Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S., Thursday, 22 Oct 1942: KEAY- LEAH A pretty and interesting wedding took place at 9 o'clock Monday Morning at Our Lady of Lourdes Church when Miss Joyce Amanda Leah, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Leah, New Glasgow, became the bride of John Bernard Keay, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Keay, Lourdes. Rev. Father Miller was the celebrant. The bride was given away by her father. Her bridesmaid was Miss Marjorie Keay, sister of the groom. The groom was attended by his cousin, Mr. Robert MacGillivray of Boston, Mass. Mrs. Robert J.Munro presided at the organ and Mr. Munro sang very beautifully "Ave Maria." A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents. Following the reception a very delectable wedding breakfast was served. Serving were Mrs. William Francis, sister of the groom, Mrs. MacGillivray, Boston, Mrs. Corson MacKenzie, Mrs. Harold Murphy, Miss Geraldine Clarke, Miss Dorothy Baillie, Miss Ethel Gammon, Miss Chris MacNeil and the bride's aunt, Miss Jessie Oliver. The happy couple left later for a trip to points of interest in Nova Scotia and P.E.I. Following their wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Keay will reside in New Glasgow. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx GERMAINE- GRANT The Presbyterian Manse at Barney's River was the scene of q quiet but pretty wedding on Saturday evening. October 17th at 8 0'clock, when Margaret Robertson, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hector Grant, Marshy Hope, and Dana Germaine, son of Mrs. Elizabeth and the late Daniel Germaine of Avondale Station were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed by their pastor, Rev.D.A. MacKinnon. The bride and groom were unattended. The bride looked charming in a suit of royal blue wool with silver fox trimmimgs and a corsage of Talisman roses. She wore a hat of blue velvet to match her suit. Mrs. Germaine has taught school very successfully in various sections of Pictou County during the past few years and she enjoys a large sphere of popularity, while Mr. Germaine is engaged in the lumbering industry extensively.
