Hi Folks Looking for any info on John & Emma Eldridge of Falmouth NS, parents of Mary A (Eldridge) Sloan. Mary w/o John Sloan d 10 Oct 1881 age 25 and is buried in St John's RC Church cemetery Windsor NS along with daughter Ethel C or G aged 2 yrs d 10 July 1880. I believe there were also 2 other children Ellen Mary (Nellie) ?? b 1877 and John Norman b 1880 and both went to the States before 1901.Thanks Pat

The Eldridge family in Falmouth are mostly descended from John Eldridge and his wife Amelia. I suspect this Amelia is your Emma, as she shows on her son Stephen's marriage as Emily. There is some information in John Duncanson's book on Falmouth on the Eldridge family. I would guess that your Mary A. is the daughter of John and Amelia born Mary Anne in 1857. They appear to have been Anglican so there may be records of the family in the church records of St. George's Anglican Church. The 1881 census has them under Slone. Shows John, aged 28 Mary aged 24 Mary E. aged 4 and John N. aged 8/12 born April. According to the Vitals site, John remarried in 1885 to Agnes Abigail Jackson. And he died an 1910. Agnes died in 1930. On the 1891 census, John shows with Agnes and a bunch of other kids. Ellen and Norman are listed, but then children by Agnes. But others listed are Bessie aged 7 Maisie aged 5 Annie aged 4 Arthur aged 2 and Eleizer aged 1. Arthur Henry's birth is on the vitals site, and he was living in the US. The late registration is signed by his older sister Mrs. Philip H. Riley of Weymouth, Mass. Suspect this is Bessie. Bessie's birth is registered also as Elizabeth Lecora. But her date of birth is 1883, while John and Agnes didn't marry until 1885. But Agnes is listed as her mother. Maisie is probably the Lena May Sloan whose birth is also registered. With her registration is a marriage to Lemuel Sabean. Her mother's death lists the informant and it is her daughter a Sabean. The vitals also list a son Clarence William born in 1892 so after the 1891 census. And an Ethel born in 1902, who married a Baxter. OOOPS. The daughter who was the informant was Annie, who married Alex Sabean. Both of the Sabean marriages are in the Vitals. Arthur Harry remarried in Windsor in 1932 to a Janet Wells. My interest in this family is that Mary Anne's brother Stephen married into my Wallace family. I have tracked that family, but not much wlse on the Eldridge family. Hope this helps some. Better add some more. Elizabeth is Bessie as she married in 1905 in Mass. She is listed twice, once as Bessie L, and again and Bessie Lecora. And her husband is listed as Philip Riley.
