    1. Re: [NS-L] [nsroots] Obituaries
    2. I voiced my objection to this change at the following site: [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Pamela Wile <[email protected]> To: Avalon Lawlor <[email protected]>; [email protected]; DorothySelig <[email protected]>; [email protected] Cc: nsroots <[email protected]> Sent: Thu, Mar 11, 2010 3:37 pm Subject: Re: [nsroots] Obituaries Hi Avalon, I haven't yet looked at the newest format, so I can't comment on that. I have emailed the Herald at least twice in regards to their obituary index asking if there would ever be an update and then again recently in regards to the new format on the website to ask if there would eventually be an improvement in the search feature and would the publish date be added to the obit. It seems that they tell me what I want to hear and then nothing ever happens. Perhaps someone who is in the know about online petitions could start one, but then we would have to determine exactly what we want. However, it's not likely that the Herald will respond favourably. If they do, it will probably be more empty promises. One time I receive a response from someone who said that people that copy the obituaries from the website are stealing data from the Herald and that they were working on a way to prevent that from happening :) Well, they're certainly working on making it more difficult, aren't they? 3. I just renewed my subscription to the Herald a few days ago, and today I also voiced my objections on behalf of everyone who is unhappy with the Obituary situation. I think we should all do this. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 11, 2010 6:22 PM Subject: Re: [NS-L] [nsroots] Obituaries > > I voiced my objection to this change at the following site: > [email protected] > > > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Pamela Wile <[email protected]> > To: Avalon Lawlor <[email protected]>; [email protected]; DorothySelig > <[email protected]>; [email protected] > Cc: nsroots <[email protected]> > Sent: Thu, Mar 11, 2010 3:37 pm > Subject: Re: [nsroots] Obituaries > > > Hi Avalon, > > I haven't yet looked at the newest format, so I can't comment on that. > > I have emailed the Herald at least twice in regards to their obituary > index asking if there would ever be an update and then again recently in > regards to the new format on the website to ask if there would eventually > be an improvement in the search feature and would the publish date be > added to the obit. 3. Most of the Funeral Homes have a website and if one is listed in the obituary on Chronicle Herald site, go to the funeral home site and cut it from there. I know it is a nuisance to have to do it but it has got to be faster than using OCR programs and then correcting it's output. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gwen Christie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Cc: <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 11, 2010 6:52 PM Subject: Re: [nsroots] [NS-L] Obituaries I just renewed my subscription to the Herald a few days ago, and today I also voiced my objections on behalf of everyone who is unhappy with the Obituary situation.
