Thursday, 19 Nov 1942: TOT DIES IN HOSPITAL Death struck with startling suddenness at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe MacPherson, Main Street, Trenton, early Monday morning and called their little two-year-old son, Hugh. The little tot was badly scalded Saturday afternoon by upsetting a pail of boiling water, which was standing on the kitchen floor. Rushed to Aberdeen hospital by Dr. D.F. MacLellan, he failed to rally and died at 4 o'clock Monday morning. Besides his parents he is also survived by a brother, Joseph. The funeral took place Tuesday morning from St.John the Baptist church, with Rev. Father D.R. Chisholm officiating. Interment was in St.John's cemetery. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx MISS MARY RUSSELL Pictou The death of Miss Mary Russell, a well beloved and highly respected resident of Pictou, took place at her home on Constitution Street at noon on Thursday, Nov.12, after an illness of about a year. Born in Pictou 81 years ago she was a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Russell. She spent her entire life in this town with the exception of the period between 1918 and 1925 when she resided in Calfornia. She was always interested in any movement that pertained to the welfare of the community, and especially in the work of Sutherland Memorial Hospital and that of the Victorian Order of Nurses and the West Pictou Local Council of Women. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and she was an active worker in the congregation. She is survived by one sister, Miss Charlotte Russell, Pictou and by one brother, James A. Russell of Ottawa. Another sister, Miss Sophia Russell, died about three years ago. W.T. Fergusson, Pictou druggist, is a nephew. The funeral was held from her home at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Rev.G.M. Lamont officiating. ELIZABETH MOORE The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Moore occured at the Aberdeen Hospital, following a short illness, when she suffered a heart ailment. For the past two years Mrs. Moore resided at the home of Mr. and Mrs.Edward F. Munroe, Hospital Avenue. Her funeral service was held at the Pictou Landing church, conducted by Rev.C.R.F. MacLennan, of Trinity Church, New Glasgow. Interment was made at the Greenwood cemetery. Her husband, Captain James Moore, of Sydney, and Pictou Landing, passed away five years ago.
