Hi and happy Friday. I have found four Leslie marriage bonds in N.S. at end of 1700’s and into early 1800’s. Alexander Leslie to Elizabeth Brinser, 1786, Thomas Leslie to Martha Mathews, 1789 Ann Leslie to John Sterling ,1784 And Kevin Leslie to Ann Margaret Uniacke 1817. No names of other family members are listed. Believe any of these could be related to Loyalist , James Leslie of Shelburne. Anyone with another idea for next steps? Thanks, Linda p.s. I tried to send an e-mail to Leslie Richardson, but it bounces. Could anyone help me to contact Leslie R.? As for the nobility!!! I just read a whole thing on the internet from back in the 1300's in Scotland and how they connected. I put in my search James Leslie b 1748 in Scotland and of course up came a lot of stuff including the nobility one. I will have to look as I think I did have the Shelburne site. 80 degrees here in NH to. Where in Maine are you?? I have cousins all over the place and my gaunt and uncle were from Graham Lake, Ellsworth. Now I am finding family in Hodgdon and did have some cousins in Houlton and Amity. If you can't find that Scotland site I will lookl for it and send you the http:// for it. Dot in So. However, was that a typo on John Leslie building lighthouses? I’ll try to find the Archives page you mentioned. That note about Maria who died sounds as though James had some family after he got to Shelburne.. Do you know anything About the records BMD for Shelburne? How do you know ‘my’ Leslies were of ‘nobility” … just being nice? I think that if from Dunkeld, they would have been lowland Scots, not from the highlands. It’s 80 deg. Here.. wow! Happy Spring. Go into Nova Scotia Archives and management under Gideon White 20 Aug 1808 "Coffin Island Lighthouse site. This is the 5th light house built under the hands of John Leslie. He did come on the ship Apollo and is listed as house carpenter from Northern Britain. Mr Henry Hodgkinson recommended him and he came with 1 woman and 1 servant. James b abt 1748 Scotland source is in Rerrance M. Puch, NS vital Statistics pg 107. Then I found this; Shelburne, NS 24 Dec 1814 age 20 Maria 3rd d/o James Leslie died. I haven't been able to find a connection to David, but did find a James Leslie who was born in Ireland s/o of George and he had a brother David Leslie. These Leslies don't seem to have any connection to your Leslie's who were of nobility. The other David's 1.was in the New Brunswick Fencibles 1810-1826 and another living in Ontario 1790-1860. He is listed as a passenger on the APOLLO. James LESLIE was a house carpenter. I am a descendant of David LESLIE, who was having children in NB, 1810-1826. We are trying figure out whether David could be a son of James. So think he might have been born abt. 1783-1793, after father was in NS. We do not know when David came to NB, other than believe it was before 1810, when his children were born. Thanks for any suggestions.
