Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S., 12 Nov 1942: JOHN W. FRASER The funeral of the late John W. Fraser was held from his late residence, Saltsprings, Pictou County, on Tuesday. The service was conducted by Rev. Lloyd MacLellan of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Scotsburn, assisted by Rev.Mr. Black of Lyons Brook and Rev. J.W. King of the Saltsprings United Church Pallbearers were R.G. Ross, Henry Miller, Jack and Albert Hillier, M.G. Archibald and John Proudfoot. Surviving to mourn his loss are his wife, three sons, Charles of Flin Flon, Manitoba; George of Flint, Michigan; and James of Salem; two daughters, Vida and Irene (Mrs.H.W. Halbert), both of Halifax; three sisters, Mrs. John Hillier of Salem; Mrs. E.G. Stewart, 84, a former resident of Pictou and who died in Halifax on Monday, Nov.2, was held in Pictou on Wednesday afternoon with Rev.Dr. Colin M. Kerr of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Halifax, officiating. Interment was in Haliburton cemetery. She was a daughter of the Rev. Murdo Stewart, a minister of the Presbyterian Church who preached at various points in Cape Breton and who later lived in Pictou. The late Dr. John Stewart, Dean of Dalhousie Medical School, was a brother. She is survived by two sisters, E.H. Stewart and M.L.J. Stewart of Halifax and by a nephew J. McG. Stewart, K.C. Federal Fuel Controller. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx JOHN WILLIAM MacLEOD Westville Seriously ill for the past ten months the death of John William MacLeod, a prominent citizen, occured Saturday night at his home, Upper Church Street. For many years Mr. MacLeod was a leader and active worker in the Conservative Association of Pictou County. He was born in Lairg, Middle River district over 80 years ago and has resided here for many years. His first wife, Christina Sutherland, passed away many years ago and he is survived by his second wife, Jessie Sutherland of Lansdowne. He is survived by two sons, John Leslie MacLeod, Westville; Chris MacLeod, Edmonton and by four daughters, Mrs. Greta Blackwood and Grace also married and both residing in the United States, Isabel and Lottie, also both married and residents of the Canadian West. Two other sons, George and Bert, passed away in Western Canada some years ago. Mr. MacLeod was greatly interested in horses and he was well known by provincial horsemen and took interest for many years in horse meets in Pictou County. Mr. MacLeod was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and Rev. George S.
