    3. Hello John and all: Janet Lemon, daughter of William Lemon and Elizabeth Farnell is my Great Grandmother. I have seen both spellings of Lemon/Lemmon. I don't know which is correct but my father spelled it Lemon and it was his Grandmother. So we use that in our family genealogy. 3. Greetings All In actual fact John, LEMMON HILLis located in DEAN, NS (formerly Dean Settlement). You are correct that it was named for William LEMMON, b. 1803 in Sussex, England. You are both correct that he was married to Elizabeth "Betsy" FARNELL, d. of George and Mary (Fisher) FARNELL. William and Elizabeth would have been my great, great grandparents. The majority of LEMMON descendants that I have had contact with spell the name with the double M. In 1997 I had the pleasure of visiting the homestead on LEMMON HILL where my grandfather, James Daniel PERRIN was born. James was the son of David and Sarah Jane (Lemmon) PERRIN. Sarah was the last of nine children known to have been born to William and Elizabeth. She was married to David PERRIN, (b. 26 November 1843). James Daniel PERRIN was the fourth of nine chilren born to David and Sarah Jane. All nine PERRIN children were born on LEMMON HILL. Wilma, I would welcome further direct contact with you. You indicate your great grandmother JANET is a daughter of William and Elizabeth (Farnell) LEMMON. However, I have no record of any JANET in that family. The children I show for William and Elizabeth are George (d. 1929), Richard, Huldah, Mary (1834 - 1922), Margaret (1836 - 1919), John (1841 - 1870), Harriet (1842 - 1916), William II (1845 - 1923), Sarah Jane (b. 8 Feb 1850 at Dean, NS. d. 4 Apr 1926). Is it possible that 'Janet' is the second name of one of the ladies shown here? Have a great day! Gordon A. 3. Hello Gordon, John and all, Here I am. Always willing to learn. I have Janet Lemon/Lemmon the second daughter of William Lemmon and Elizabeth Farnell. She was born in 1832 (nicely fits) in Upper Musquodoboit, NS. She married my Great Grandfather, Miles Grant, s/o Alexander Grant and Agnes (Nancy) Farnell. She died 23 Sep 1868 in Dean Settlement at age 36. Buried in Meaghers Grant Cemetery, NS. Miles Grant married the second time to Elizabeth Ann Champley Henley d/o Thomas Henley and Nancy (Unknown). They are both buried in Meaghers Grant Cemetery also. I shall not debate the Lemon/Lemmon name. Although my father said it was Lemon I tend to agree that it is Lemmon if the Hill was named after William and it was Lemmon Hill.. My dad always joked that we had a "Lemon" in our family. I have Elizabeth Farnell b. Oct 1808 in Upper Musquodoboit, NS d. 10 Oct 1868 (the same year as daughter Janet Lemmon). D/O George Farnell and Margaret Fisher (not Mary). Margaret Fisher was the daughter of John Fisher and Elizabeth Crowley. I will send you the information I have on Janet Lemmon and Miles Grant's children and/or the 10 children I have of William Lemmon and Elizabeth Farnell. Or any other information I have.
