The Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S., 17 Sep 1936: HECTOR MacLELLAN, GOLDBORO In the death of Hector MacLellan, which occured at his home Tuesday, September 8, in the 67th year of his age, Goldboro lost one of its most highly esteemed and well known citizens. He had been in failing health since June, but the end came both quietly and suddenly. He leaves to mourn his mother, Mrs. Lavinia McArthur; his widow, formerly Ethel Rhude of Goldboro; two sons, Laurier, of Tashota, Ont., and Hector, of Red lake, Ont., four daughters, Love (Mrs. Taylor of Shubenacadie); Addean (Mrs.Thrasher, Sask.), Gladys (Mrs. Findlay of Windsor), and Aileen at home; three half brothers, Havelock, Robert and Herman MacArthur, all of Goldboro and one half sister, Mrs. Rhude, of Goldboro. The funeral service at the home in Goldboro was held on Sunday, Sept.13th and was conducted by Rev. Mr. Davis. The grave service was in charge of the Brothers of Evangeline Lodge I.O.O.F. of which Mr. MacLellan was a charter member. The pall bearers were Award MacLellan, Milton Uloth, William Giffen, O.I. Giffin, John Crooks and Daley Henderson, brothers of Evangeline Lodge. Hector MacLellan was a man of few but kindly words. All his life he was considerate and appreciative of others. He was upright in his business relations and what he undertook to do, he did to the best of his ability. He was the soul of friendship and memories of him will linger long in this community and among his many friends. WILLIAM SCHLOSSBERG A large circle of friends and relatives will learn with deep regret of the death of Julia, wife of Rev. William Schlossberg, 560 Robie Street, who passed away Tuesday morning in the Victoria General Hospital following an illness of one months duration. She was 58 years of age, and was born in Poland, coming to Halifax about twenty-nine years ago. The late Mrs. Schlossberg is survived by her husband, two sons, Dr. Frank Schlossberg, of Boston, and Dr. Reuben Schlossberg, of New Glasgow, and two daughters, (Cecilla), Mrs. L. Newman, of Halifax, and Miss Ella Schlossberg at home. A service was held at her late residence conducted by Rabbi Simon, of the Robie Street Synagogue, and the funeral took place at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon to the Jewish Cemetery.
