Regretfully Mr. Martin's health is not as good as many friends would like it to be and he sticks close to home. Long associated with the Canadian National Railway and Superintendent of this District, he was one of the most popular men who ever held such a responsible position, and is as ever a prince of good fellows with it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx NEW GLASGOW DOCTOR HONORED Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gass telling them that their son, Dr. R.S. Gass, who has been director of the Division of Tuberculosis Control in Tennesee T.B. Hospital which was opened and dedicated yesterday. The hospital contains 65 beds and will house the Division of T.B. Control as well as T.B. Joseph Day, Parish Priest of Westville in the death of his aged mother, Mrs. Florence Day of Sydney, that took place on Saturday night. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Thursday, 17 Dec 1942: MARRIED IN OTTAWA THORPE-FRASER On Saturday, December 12th the marriage took place at Saint Andrew's Church, Ottawa, of Lota Jean, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan W. Fraser of New York to Pilot Officer James Barrett Thorpe of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The bride made many friends in New Glasgow when a few years ago she visited here with her father and Mrs. Fraser, they occupying the residence of Mr. A.M. Douglas for some weeks in the summer. Mr. Fraser is President of the American Locomotive Company, New York. The many subsidary plants of this company in Canada and the United States are heavily engaged in the production of tanks for the Allied Nations. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx CAPTAIN JAMES CAMERON HOME Captain James Cameron, who has recently been in Britain, taking a special training course arrived home during the week. He looks well and enjoyed the trip to Britain in the off days from the hard course of training he experienced.
