    3. The Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S. Tuesday, 01 Dec 1942: News Items Word was received in New Glasgow last week by Mr. G. Forrest MacKay that Flt. Lieut. Edward Wallace of the R.C.A.F. was missing in Malta. Before he went overseas the engagement of Flt. Lieut. Wallace was announced to Miss Jean Ross, daughter of the Hon. W.D. Ross and Mrs. Ross of Toronto and niece of Mr. MacKay. Mrs. Alex M. MacIntosh, Halifax, formerly of New Glasgow, has accepted a position of a position on the staff of C.H.N.S. Halifax. Mrs. MacIntosh is the possessor of a very pleasant voice and should make an excellent announcer, if that is the type of job she has. Dr. Albert Culton of Wallace is on a short visit in Stellarton, with his sister, Mrs. L.R. Purvis. Mrs. Hiram Brown of Wallace, is a guest at the home of her cousin, Mrs. J.J. Fraser and Mr. Fraser , South Foord Street. Mrs. R.M. MacGregor, who has been the guest of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Harold Oxley, Halifax, for the past fortnight returned home the end of last week. Mr. Robert O. Hoare, Stellarton, who was long connected with the automobile industry, has been appointed representative for the Sun Life Assurance Company. Mr. Hoare's many friends in the County will wish him sucess in his new duties. Mrs. Harry Thompson a former resident of Stellarton, who has been the guest of her aunt, Mrs. John MacQuarrie and sister, Mrs. Oliver MacLeod for the past month, left this morning for Bathurst, N.B., where she makes her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Donald Thompson. Thursday, 03 Dec 1942: Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Bethel, of Truro, were visitors to town today. Mrs. Bethel was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Russell MacLean, and Mr. Bethel was a visitor to the Rotary Club. Nursing Sister Helen L. Wilson, formerly a member of the staff of the Aberdeen Hospital, is visiting friends in New Glasgow this week-end. Mr. George Cutten, who for several years has been employed as Wireless Operator at Father Point, Quebec, had the misfortune of breaking his hip, some months ago, is making a satisfactory recovery, his many friends will be glad to know. GRAHAM-MUIR: Mrs. M.T. Muir, Pictou, N.S. announces the engagement of her daughter, Margaret Eileen, to Sgt. John Elwood Graham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Graham, Scotsburn, N.S. Wedding willl take place in the near future. Robert Fraser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Fraser, Sunny Brae, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force . For the last year and a half Robert had been employed with the Canada Car Company in Amherst and his many friends in Amherst and Sunny Brae wish him the very best of luck. Dr. and Mrs. Douglas MacDonald of Yarmouth, are spending a few days here the guests of the Doctor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Ed. MacDonald. "You have taken a rather unusual season to come so far Doctor?" "We just wanted to see what winter was like again. It's not well to forget the joy's of youth completely. And from now until summer we will be reading about winter, so it's well to have a short refresher course so we can better appreciate what you are talking about during the months ahead."
