STATES, Laurie - 83, 296 Lamont Rd., Kentville, died November 10, 1993, at home. Born in Gibson Woods, Kings County, he was a son of the late Robert and Minnie (Dixon) States. He lived in the Kentville area most of his life and worked as a farmer and logger. He was a veteran of the Second World War and a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville. He was an avid sportsman and an allstar player with the Colored Royals, Aldershot, Kings County. He is survived by seven daughters, Doris Gibson, Kentville; Joyce Hall, Ontario; Bertha Johnson, Phyllis Desmond, both of New Brunswick; Helen States, Vancouver, B.C.; Shirley States, Annie Clements, both of Toronto; two sons, Doug, Upper Dyke, Kings County; Lawrence, Windsor; 37 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Stevens; three sisters, Alta, Bertha, Mary; five brothers, Percey, Fred, Roy, Robert, Earl. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville, where a legion service will be 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Bethany Memorial Baptist Church, Aldershot, Rev. Dr. Freeman Fenerty officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Donations may be made to Bethany Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund.
