Hi All: Ferdinand SHAFFNER, s/o Adam and Anna Margaretha SHAFFNER is born aboard the MURDOCK a few days out from Halifax [Calnek's /History of Annapolis County/, page 559], which would place his birth in 1751. On 30 Mar 1780, he m. Barbara HAWBOLDT in Lunenburg County [SJAL] and they move to Granville, Annapolis County where their son Ferdinand marries one of "my" WHITMAN's [Dorothea, d/o Edward and Dorthy (GATES) WHITMAN to be precise]. My question is--can anyone ID Barbara HAWBOLDT's parents? For Jack: Note that Ferdinand and Dorothea are parents of Angelina SHAFFNER wife of John HEALY, s/o Josiah. -----Bob H-----
Hi Bob, I have her parents as: Johann Christoph Gottlieb Ludwig HAPPOLT (b. 7 April 1724 in Braunsbach, Wurttenburg) and his second wife Marie Barbara HIMMELMANN (b.abt 1728 in the Palatinate). I show 6 children for these parents including Anna Barbara. Unfortunately I do not have a reference for this family other than "Happolt website", noted when I was new to genealogy. I took a quick look on Rootsweb just now for Maria Barbara Himmelmann and there is only one entry, the poster's reference may be the same website I saw so many years ago but the reference is not clear. My information gives a limited ancestry for Johann Cristoph for a further 5 generations on his father's side back to 1565.
