Eastern Chronicle, New Glasgow, N.S., 15 Oct 1942: CELEBRATE 52nd WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mr.and Mrs. A.E. MacLean of Afton observed yesterday their 52nd anniversary of their wedding which took place in Waltham, Mass., Oct.14,1890. Mrs. MacLean is the former Miss Mary Taylor and was born in Bayfield, N.S. She is the daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs. George Taylor of Afton. Mr. MacLean was born in Pictou, and is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs.Hector MacLean, Merland and Clinton, Mass., a grandson of Alexander MacLean of Judique and one of the Gaelic bards of Cape Breton during the middle of the last century. He was also an "Hector Scot" coming over from Scotland in the ship "Hector". Mr. MacLean is also a poet of considerable ability. Before returning to his native province Mr. MacLean was a member of the firm, MacLean and Gerrish, contractors, Boston. He is now at age 79 years, quite actively engaged as as agriculturist. Mr.and Mrs. MacLean have three daughters and two sons living; Florence, (Mrs. Frank Silver), Halifax; Gladys,(Mrs.Peter Gaudun) of Lexington, Mass.;and Miss Lottie of Cambridge, Mass; John of Detroit, Michigan and Archie at home. Upon the occasion of this noteworthy anniversary marking 52 years of marriage, this esteemed couple are the recipients of many evidences of good will and best wishes. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx DIES BOUND HOME FROM ANTIGONISH En route to Charlottetown from Antigonish, Arthur Cudmore,25, Charlottetown, was drowned when a furniture van he was operating left the road on a bridge at Pinette, near Charlottetown and plunged into the water. Cudmore had delivered a load of furniture at Antigonish earlier in the day, the van being empty when the accident occured. His wife and Lloyd Gregory, also of Charlottetown, riding in the cab, escaped uninjured. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PICTOU COUNTY FLYER MISSING The deepest sympathy will be extended to Mr.and Mrs. C.S. Fraser of Little Harbor, who have received the sad news that their son Sergeant Chipman Cameron Dawson Fraser of the R.C.A.F. was missing. Sergeant Fraser was a fine young chap liked by all who knew him and was a great favorite with the young people of the town and countryside.
