Hi List:) I am posting on behalf of a friend, Kelly. Kelly was adopted at birth in NS and for several years has been looking for her birth family. She has been able to discover (via a NS list) that her birth mother was Betty May Weir of Antigonish in 1969. She is now searching for her birth father. Kelly was born Lisa Dawn WEIR September 16, 1969 at the Halifax Infirmary. Betty was a member of the United Church and was 19 at the time. She had completed grade 11 and a commercial course. She was described as being 5ft 6, 110 pounds with brown hair, blue eyes and "rather anxious". Hobbies included curling, singing and enjoyed cheerleeding during her highschool years. The birthfather of Kelly was NOT aware of Ms. WEIR's pregnancy. He appears in information as "Mr. M" he was 23 in 1969, of Roman Catholic faith and had gone to Antigonish from Newfoundland. He had completed high school, had a Bachelor of Arts from a University and was employed as a teacher. He was 5'5, dark brown hair and brown eyes, 140 pounds. He was described as being outgoing, good natured, sports minded and interested in skiing, hunting and reading. Mr M's father was a farmer who owned property in Newfoundland. He was 63 years of age and had a grade 10 education. The mother was 55 and stayed at home. They had a large family. In addition to Mr M there was a 31 year old sister who had completed university and was a "nun". There was another sister age 25 who had completed a commercial course and was employed as a secretary. Mr M also had "4 brothers and sisters" all in highschool in Newfoundland. Ms WEIR had indicated in the information at the time of Kelly's birth that she had known Mr M for a period of 6 months. She unfortunately refuses to correspond with Kelly and answer her questions. Kelly also is aware that Betty May has two daughters in the province of New Brunswick.
