Would there be a census for 1880 in Halifax Nova Scotia? If so could someone look up Thomas Bransfield please? Thanks Christy
Thanks to Jocelyn, Vickie and Carol, I now know he wasn't either of these men... so I'll have to focus on the Thomas Robinson who married Elizabeth Benton in Yorkshire...trouble with chases like these, is that they died in "foreign" countries, and their children unfortunately died young, so ancestors in the UK may have lost track of them. Love the hunt though! Hi Christy, I'm not sure about Ancestry. Have you checked the directories available online at LAC? Try this URL: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/canadiandirectories/001075-100.01-e.php and look at the drop-down list of directories you can choose from. The McAlpine directories for Halifax are available in the date range you mentioned. You can find those directories on-line at: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/canadiandirectories/index-e.html Scroll through the "Search" engine for Halifax, and selectb the year.. but be warned, the Nat. Lib. search engine isn't always reliable, and you might want to get to the alphabetical section for the surname you are seeking. Hello Jay: I would think he might be in Westmoreland County, New Brunswick? Can't bring up a Westmoreland, NS. Perhaps someone else knows if there is a Westmoreland in NS? I did find a Thomas Robinson in Cumberland 1861, sending a copy to you. There are 2 others in Halifax and one in Annapolis. That is all came up on Ancestry for me. 1861 census in Nova Scotia gives only head of household name with how many males and females. You can sometimes find more if you know the neighbors. Hope this helps.. This non-sponsored, free-access National Site is proud to announce that we are in our 13th year of operation. * 3. If you have family or friends ANYWHERE in Canada, who may be interested in photographing their local cemeteries, please inform them of the availability of The *Canadian Gravemarker Gallery*. Their COMPLETELY PHOTOGRAPHED cemeteries will have world wide exposure on this free-access National Cemetery Photograph website. * 4. If you and/or your organization are interested in your local cemeteries going online, please contact us at: info@gravemarkers.ca - there are no cemeteries too big or too small. They will be placed online at absolutely no cost to you...! * 5. A comprehensive "Tips and Hints" brochure in English or French is available. To help volunteers get started photographing entire Canadian cemeteries a copy of the brochure will be sent via email to all interested folks. * * SUBSCRIBING TO THE WEBSITE UPDATES HTML NEWSLETTER. ************************************************* * Don't miss future monthly updates. Subscribe to the automatic Canadian Gravemarker Gallery's HTML Newsletter which has "hot links" to the new cemeteries. Please go to the Website at: http://www.gravemarkers.ca and click on the "JOIN UPDATES NEWSLETTER" button located just above the weather row. * * HELPFUL HINTS - SUMMARY. ********************** * 1. Tracing female ancestors. Cemeteries online have spousal duplicated photographs. This means a photo of a stone which also has the spouse's maiden name showing, is duplicated and when one searches using the onboard search engine, for a surname, the spouse's surname will be reported as a separate "search result". * 2. Cemetery records. Over the past 13 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to "walk" the cemeteries. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the "record holders" contact information for the township, town or city cemetery. * 3. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries.? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. Hello Listers, I am trying to find out what became of one of my relatives. His name was George Archibald Campbell, from P.E.I. where he was born in 1897. He was last heard of in Elmsdale, N.S. where he was living in 1973. Can anyone shed any light on what might have happened to him after that? I don't know whether he was married or not, and no information about any children he might have had. He was a farmer when he lived in P.E.I. Thanks for any clues, George in P.E.I.

Hi Lea, There was a Mr.Strum who lived on Jackson Rd in North End Dartmouth in the 50's and 60's. My husband tells me that he would have died about 10 years ago. Might be able to get the exact house number tomorrow. That church has now been de Anglicanized and sold, but the records should be kept somewhere- maybe at the Anglican Deanery Centre in halifax. - Lea > ---------------------------------------- > Basic List Commands: > > 1.
