    1. Re: [NS-L] [nscumber] CHAPPELL, Blair Edward - Halifax C.H., Aug 12, 1974
    2. Arthur Owen
    3. Hello, I was going through some old e-mails and found this obituary posted by Gerry Mattinson back in 2004 to the NS Cumberland mailing list. I can not determine the parents of the Greta Oulton of Maccan who is listed as his wife. In the 1958 Voters List on Ancestry.com, I have found a Miss Greta Oulton, waitress, Maccan, RR 1 listed as well as a Mrs Mary Oulton, housekeeper, Maccan RR 1. So Mary could be her mother or someone totally unrelated. Does anyone have any information on the parents of Greta Oulton or the husband of the Mrs Mary Oulton, both of Maccan, NS? As I do not have any information about an Oulton family in Maccan in the 1950s, can anyone provide information on that? Thanks, Arthur Owen On 11/02/2004 1:25 PM, Gerry Mattinson wrote: > Halifax Chronicle Herald, Aug 12, 1974 > > LOWER MACCAN - Blair Edward Chappell, 37, died Saturday at Highland View > Regional Hospital, Amherst. > Born in Amherst, he was the son of Mrs. Jean (Chapman) Benjamin of > Amherst and the late Ronald Chappell. > He was a coal miner and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, River > Hebert Branch. > He is survived by his wife, the former Greta Oulton of Maccan; a son, > Allan Chappell, at home; a sister, Margaret, Ontario; and a brother, Donald, > of Calgary, Alta. > The body is at Furlong's funeral Home, Amherst. Cemetery records. Over the past 13 years this website has been instrumental in breaking down many researchers' brick walls. In addition, many folks have travelled to cemeteries which are onboard, to "walk" the cemeteries. Please note that on some cemeteries we have included the "record holders" contact information for the township, town or city cemetery. * 3. Missing cemeteries. If you don't see a Community and its' cemeteries online...it means we have not photographed the cemeteries in that area. Would you or some of your family or friends be interested in helping out by photographing your local cemeteries.? * * FEEDBACK ******* * We are always interested in feedback from Visitors to the website. 3. Hi All: John and Ron--thanks for sending along the copies of the requested obit! :-) AHA! it's now clear that the source of the confusion is that either the marker inscription at Bayside Cemetery, or the transcript thereof, has a non-trivial problem. As to those children of Basil Cecil ZINCK and Violet MORASH, there doesn't seem to be any marriage record for the happy couple, so my guess is that Basil and Bertha have daughters Maureen and Thelma and then split up. And as long as I am guessing, I will guess that the split occurs long before that 1954 divorce and the only reason for same is that Bertha then wants to marry Sidney Whitman ZINCK. -----Bob H----- On 10/23/2012 10:41 AM, Ron Zinck wrote: Lunies: The person's husband was Lawrence 'Bubbles" Zinck. The person Bob is seeking clarification about is Violet Morash who was born after 1911 and was a daughter of David Shaw ZINCK & Rhoda May MORASH. I have a number of obits for this family, which are at odds with the headstone that Bob cites. A review of these obits indicates that Violet Zinck was alive in 2006 and deceased in 2009. A further complication is that she married her sister Bertha's husband. The records show that Basil and Bertha divorced in 1953 but I have Basil and Violet having children as early as 1935. 3. Hi All: Based on the notes received in response to date, I thought it would be wise to provide a fuller explanation of the dilemma. In brief, two different obits--one in 2005 and another in 2006--state that Violet MORASH, wife of Basil C. ZINCK is alive and well. Yet here is a marker inscription at Bayside Cemetery: Zinck, Basil Cecil d. Oct 14, 1976 75 Yrs; His Wife Violet M. Morash d. Jan 14, 1990 Further, an obit for Violet M. ZINCK appears on 15 Jan 1990, as noted below. So the question is--who is it in the obit and what are her husband and children's names? -----Bob H----- On 10/22/2012 3:10 PM, Bob Hegerich wrote: Hi All: An obit for one Violet M. My problem is that this Violet ZINCK seems to be both alive and dead at the same time, a trick equaled only by Schrödinger's cat. -----Bob H----
