Hi! I would like to contact David MARSHALL -- whose father was Furber Marshall and he had a sister Sheila. On my first visit to Nova Scotia about 25+ years ago Furber was most helpful while I was there in helping me to research my Marshall family. David was a delight as well. David would be around 50 give or take, right now. Way back then they were living in Halifax. Any leads would be appreciated! Judy Bingham Fullerton, California

Hello Everyone, Would anyone have old photo's for the one room school house in Brule from the late 1800's to the 1920's? Kim in Ontario jennill@cogeco.ca
Elaine & all, There were schooners with everything from 2-7 masts. The only 7 master was the Thomas W. Lawson. Most were 2-3 masters. Masts are sometimes called sticks or poles. There were a couple of 5 masted ones that were called Jack A** schooners because they had square topsails on the 1st(fore) & 3rd(mizzen) masts & didn't sail well at all. Kaari

Yes and 5 (75), 6 (10) and even 7 masted schooners (1, Thomas W Lawson). They were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s. bob gillis
Elaine, I'm quite sure that "three sticker" means that the schooner had three masts (masts were commonly called sticks). A schooner is a vessel in which all masts are of the same height and which are rigged with fore-and-aft sails. While the typical schooner has two masts (as did the famous "Bluenose"), schooners have been built with up to seven masts (and possibly more). Hope this is of some help.
