    1. Re: [NS-L] This is my list of Family Members of Interest - Heighton
    2. Diana Lynn Tibert
    3. Hello Kim, I am also looking for information on the Heighton family, particularly that of Abram 'Abe' Heighton, son of Minnie Langille and Peter Heighton. Abe married my aunt, Leila Winnifred Tibert. In his obituary (below), she is listed as Lila Hypert, but I noted in brackets that it should be Typert. Typert is an earlier spelling for Tibert. I don't have a lot on Abe, but I do have his and Leila's marriage information and a list of their children (only what can be gleaned from obit). And of course, I have information on Leila. If you are interested in what I have on Abe, let me know. I also have five other Heighton obits, and a photo of Abe (though not very good). Since this is a small branch of the family, I am only looking for a few items: Abe's middle name if he had one, his birth date, his parents full names (including his mothers maiden name) and their birth and death dates. Diana Tibert Milford, NS OBITUARY: HEIGHTON, Abram ‘Abe’: Paper was dated Tuesday June 2, 1964 - Funeral of Victim Thursday: River John - Funeral services will be held here Thursday for construction worker Abram “Abe” Heighton, who was electrocuted in a mishap at Tidewater Construction Company in New Glasgow on Monday evening. The service will be held from St. John’s Anglican Church at 2:30 pm and will be conducted by Rev. R. E. Harris. Heighton, 58, died instantly when the motor crane on which he was working struck a high tension wire carrying 14,400 volts. The victim had joined Tidewater Construction only two weeks ago. He had previous construction work experience, had been a mechanic, and during the past few years had done some fishing. Mr. Heighton was a native of Cape John where he lived most of his life. He was a son of Peter and Minnie (Langille) Heighton. Surviving are his wife, the former Lila Hypert (should be Typert) of Liscomb; four sons, Aubrey, Henry and Lawson of Cape John, and Malcolm of Pictou; one daughter, Florence (Mrs. Charles Jollimore); one sister, Margaret (Mrs. Elsford Langille), Cape John; and three brothers, George and Edward of Cape John, and Blanch of Lyons Brook. He was predeceased by a brother, Murray, some years ago. Kim Barlow wrote: > >HEIGHTONS of CAPE JOHN N. S > > > > > >

    3. Joanne -- Others may know how Ecum Secum got its name -- but it has an Indian backing -- meaning "red rock" so my husband told me, as he was born in Ecum Secum. The same is of Summerville Centre, where I was born -- original Indian name was Flat Rocks -- later Broad River, a tributary of Great River which has waterways from the Atlantic to Minas Basin. Due to eight places called Summerville in Nova Scotia, the 1898 postmaster requested and received permission to name it Summerville Centre. Guess my husband and I both came from areas with Indian backgrounds, but only my area had residential Indians. 2. Sue J
    3. Hi List, I working on CUMMING from NS. I would love to find some male CUMMING(S) descendants of Duncan CUMMING and Ann McNEIL. I have had my brother do the Genealogy DNA through FTDNA. We have tested all 67 markers. I am hoping to find a CUMMING who can trace back and would be willing to also do the DNA testing, either for 25 or 36 markers. There are plenty of CUMMING on the DNA Project on FTDNA Y-Search but these families are all from the Southern USA and do not come close to a match. This is not the same as a paternity test. It just requires a cheek swab, like seen on TV shows. Everything comes with the kit. The only thing that is required extra is to sign the release form so those who match up with you will be notified and you will be notified of matches. This is just another step in expanding our paper trails in Genealogy. It is the next thing in Genealogy research. If you go through a project, you get a discount than if you order straight through FTDNA. Sue macduff@infionline.net R1b1c / H13 Autosomal Panel 1
