I am primarily researching ACKER and SCHWARTZ families from the Lunenburg Foreign Protestants. The Ackers/Akers/Auckers have spread "up through" into the Valley and Windsor areas. Another prime research line comes from the descendants of Alex the GREEK (LEVANTE) who arrived in NS about 1811 and married into the Tanners of Blue Rocks, Lunenburg County. Ingrid Greek Bridgewater
Hi, if Ric Noble or anyone else could see if there is an obituary for Raymond (or Ray) WARD, died sometime in the 1960s or 1970s. If this is too broad a time period, I will see if there is some way I can narrow it down, but it's from my childhood memory, so that's the best I can do at this time.Virginia (Ward) Bergmann Researching Hants County surnames: WARD, MOSHER, CALDWELL, LOWTHERS, BERRY
Hi Anne -- I have studied what family information I have, but cannot seem to figure out the Comeau line. I started searching because my sister was in NS a few years ago and found a distant relative, Edith Comeau Tufts (sp?) from W. Chezzetcook. I do know that this line began with : --Pierre Comeau, then goes to -- Jeanne Comeau B. 1659 at Port Royal & Edienne Hebert of Port Royal --Anne Hebert & Pierre Boucher, married 1714 at Grand Pre --Honore Boucher B. 1716 & Marie-Anne Mars de la Sonde --Marie-Joseph Boucher of Little Bras d'Or & Boniface Benoit (D. 1811 at Tracadie --Scholastique Benoit, 1767-1828, Little Bras d'Or/Chezzetcook & Maximien Roma (ca. 1755-1840) --Marie Roma (B. ca. 1794) & Thomas Fillis --Appoline/Pauline Fillis, Baptized 1812 at Chezzetcook & Jean Baptist Murphy -Jean Murphy (1837-1889) & Charlotte Julien, both of Chezzetcook --John Murphy (1876-1964) of Chezzetcook & Caroline Mae Mills (of Saco, ME) Best regards, Sherry Anne Hendrick <anne.hendrick@sympatico.ca> wrote: Hi Sherry, I'm also a descendant of Pierre Comeau My name is Annette Hendrick (nee Comeau) Daughter of Denis Son of William Son of Dedier Son of Marin Son of Joseph Son of Francois Son of Pierre Le Jeune Son of Pierre II who married Rose Bayol I would be interested on how your line meets with mine. Hello Phyllis, Again, this Magerin (Mager) name appears early in the NS Tibert family. Maria Elizabeth Mager(in) was the wife of Johannes Diebert (also Teybert). They arrived together on the Pearl in 1752. Along with this couple was a lady, possibly Maria's mother or sister, Maria Rosina Margerin. Maria Rosina died during the first winter in Canada and was not recorded in the Vic List in the spring. Maria Elizabeth, wife of Johannes, died November 30, 1780 in Lunenburg, Lunenburg County, NS [Note #2]. I have noted: her maiden name may be Magerin (the ‘in’ is the feminine form of the name), Mader or Myra since her sister or mother was with them when they came to Canada. NOTE #2: Death date found recorded in the Dutch Reformed Church, Lunenburg, Lunenburg County, NS: “Diebert, Mary Eliz., died November 30, 1780, Lunenburg, wife of John; nee Mader”. I would love to learn more about this woman who started the 'Tibert' clan in Canada. Diana Phyllis Pottle wrote: >Maria Elizabeth Mager was the dau. of Maria Rosina Magerin. Anyone know M. Bill, An interesting compilation of names appears in the following site of Solomon Phipps of Charlestown, MA. There are many names that have appeared on our NS site. At least one of those listed had his house burned to the ground by the Colonists as he was a Loyalist. It seems likely that some in this grouping must have found their way to distant shores. One admonition...Charestown, at that time was in Middlesex County not Suffolk, as stated in the tome. Somerville, MA was later carved out of this piece of geography. Winter Hill, a fort under General Sullivan, later of NH. then part of Charlestown was one of the main holding areas for the Hessian prisoners while their General Reisdel (Sp.?) was on parole a few miles up the road on Tory Row (Loyalists) next to the Ruggles House and the Lechmere House. Lechmere, a Loyalist and a large property owner left, during the evacuation of Boston.. To reach Tory Road (Brattle Street) one would have to pass the Prospect Hill Fort, also prominent in the Bunker Hill activities. It was here that the captured British troops, under Burgoyne were held en mass, while he enjoyed the social life of parole, in Harvard Square, just a few steps from Brattle Street. My apologies for the length of my missile. http://freepages.generalogy.rootsweb.com/~walkersj/solomon.htm Al ----- Original Message ----- From: <Wmdperkins@aol.com> To: <nova-scotia@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 14, 2007 10:48 AM Subject: [NS-L] Roll Call: RUGGLES > Afternoon yall > > Would really be great if everyone listed the primary SURNAMES in their > Subject line.
