Some time ago, there was a posting that gave suggestions about how to include genealogy research in your will so that the research was not lost. Now that I am finally updating my will, I, of course, cannot find this information. Does anyone have it? carolyn in rhode island --------------------------------- Boardwalk for $500? In 2007? Ha! Anyone out there have the name McGinty in their tree? I have John McGinty who married into my Lowthers family, (Mary Lowthers) Feb 3, 1873. I believe her father, Edward, is buried near Caledonia somewhere. Ultimately, I am looking for the exact birthplace of Edward Lowthers. Someone wrote to me recently regarding Harrington in Nova Scotia. I don't have the name they are looking for but thought I'd ask the list. This is all the info they have given me: Frederick Arthur Atkinson b 1924, Sable Island, Nova Scotia {I have not found him via ancestry search; did find the name for someone born 1891 though] Mother: Abbie Jane Atkinson, catholic; no dates or places given Father: Frederick Arthur Harrington The note states the parents didn't marry cause Fred Sr. was not catholic. I have found many Atkinsons in the NS as well as Shelburne Cty. area. Most are baptist. I checked the 1911 NS Census, Shelburne, Sable Island reel T-20364. That is where I found a Fred A. Atkinson b 1891 so it's not the fellow. I also did a search for Abbie just using A since her name could have been Abigail or anything else the used Abbie as a nickname. I'm going to write to the person requesting further info: Abbie's dob/place etc. but thought I'd perk someones interest with what I have so far. Thanks to an excellent suggestion by Bob Gillis, I have found the wanted information in the NSARM film of the Chandler Funeral Home (Liverpool) records. Thanks Bob! Mary Eliza Freeman died, age 98, on 21 Nov 1934 in Milton, Queens County. Thanks to all those who responded with helpful advice and information - it was all very much appreciated. I still do not find the death in the online database. I gathered this morning, in conversation with a government archivist at NSARM, that there are three main reasons why something like this death might not be found in the online database: 1) some very bad indexing / transcription error 2) for some unknown reason it simply got missed in the indexing process 3) the information was never sent in and so was not recorded in the government registers in the first place John Cordes On [2007-06-03 at 11:59am] John Cordes <John.Cordes@dal.ca> wrote: > I've been trying to locate the death record for Mary Eliza > Dexter, b. 31 May 1836 in Queens County and believed to have > d. 1934. Henry SIBLEY arrived in Nova Scotia aboard the Beaufort with wife and 2 sons in the Cornwallis fleet. It is reported he died at sea returning to England to attend his father's estate. Another possible name is Susan Bowden/Bawden/Borden who came from Cornwall England with her siblings about 1880. If any of this sounds remotely familar I would love to hear from you Thank you. Hello Listers, I've been trying to locate the death record for Mary Eliza Dexter, b. 31 May 1836 in Queens County and believed to have d. 1934. She was married to Joseph Bent Freeman. The reason for believing that she died in 1934 is that a "Freeman book" gives that date and also it is recorded on a gravestone in Milton, Queens County. http://www.rootsweb.com/~canns/queens/milton.html The immediate question at hand is to learn more about the death - the actual date, for example, and the location. I have searched extensively in the NS Vital Stats online and have not been able to find her death registered; in my search I allowed for many spelling variations and also a considerable range of years. To the best of my knowledge she did actually die in Nova Scotia, so that should not be the explanation for the absence of the death registration in the online database. Would anyone be able to tell me, supposing the transcription and/or indexing of that particular death was somehow missed, if it is possible to look it up on film at NSARM? Thanks for any help you may be able to offer on this question. John Cordes Halifax P.S. I am not subsribed to the Queens County list so have not posted there.
