Victoria; Should have added that they only have the records for Fairview and Camp Hill Cemetery, at least that was all they had the last time I was there last year. Don
Victoria; Camp Hill Cemetery records are at the Fairview Cemetery office. If coming in from the Bedford Highway, take the Windsor street exit and the cemetery entrance will be about 100 yards up the street on the right hand side. The office is on the right side of the drive way shortly after you entry the cemetery. Don

This message is posted with permission of the list owner Hello everyone, In connection with the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Planters arrival to Nova Scotia, I am pleased to make a limited edition reprint of Planters & Pioneers, Nova Scotia 1749-1775 (1982 Revised) by Esther Clark Wright available once again to the genealogical community. For those of you who may not be familiar with it, Planters & Pioneers contains years of research by Dr. Clark to determine pre-loyalist and early European settlers in Nova Scotia. The book includes more than 25,000 names gathered from township records, registry of deeds, probate records, county and local histories, census records, family histories, genealogies, and so forth. This is a unique work with virtually no others existing like it. Dr. Wright had hoped to publish future editions but the work ended with her passing in 1990. Planters & Pioneers has become very rare because only a few thousand copies were ever printed. In a few weeks, a limited edition reprint of Planters & Pioneers will be available in soft-cover book and electronic formats at the following prices: Soft-cover book: $119 (plus GST and $9.00 shipping after July 6) Electronic $109 (plus HST and $9.00 shipping after July 6) If you would like to pre-order a copy of Planters & Pioneers, please send me a personal email at info@plantersandpioneers.com <mailto:info@plantersandpioneers.com> . If you pre-order before July 6th you will save the GST and shipping, a savings of more than $17 off the soft-cover book. Your pre-orders will help to cover the initial set-up costs with the publisher. If enough orders come in before July 6, the book will be printed and mailed out four to six weeks from the date of this message. Electronic versions will be available by the second week of July. If you have questions, please feel free to get in touch with me at 902-864-5954 or send me at info@plantersandpioneers.com <mailto:info@plantersandpioneers.com> . Thanks very much. Kind Regards, Justin Wentzell Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia www.plantersandpioneers.com <http://www.plantersandpioneers.com/>
Is there anyone researching the Worrall / Worrell families of Nova Scotia. I am most interrested in those going back to the Loyalists times. Jim
Bill Tufts, could you please look up the date May 26 1873 or a few days after...for a James Fraser falling off Pokiok Falls and see if there is any information.
-The Daily Times, Saint John, N.B., Monday, August 28, 1893, p. 2, col. 3. Encountered Heavy Weather LOCKPORT, N. S., Aug. 26 -(Special)- The brigt, Sceptre, Dexter master, owned by Zaricker & Co., Lunenburg, from from St. Johns, P. R. to Boston, arrived here this afternoon, having been dismasted. Your correspondent was first on deck and learned particulars. On Sunday night, Aug. 20, at 12 o'clock, lat. 37, long. 70.30, a gale was encountered, scudded (? -poor quality) under bare poles until she was brought to the wind at 6:30 Monday morning. The ship was then hove down on her beam ends, the main top mast back stays, foretop gallant and royal back stays were cut away. The ship continued riding heavily and the capt, mate and four men were washed overboard. At this stage one sailor, a Russian finn(?) was drowned. The gale abated about noon and under short sail the Sceptre made Lockport ahead at noon today. When off Gull Rock she was taken to tow by the City of St. John and brought to anchor in this harbor. Capt. Dexter reports that on Tuesday he passed a barque with foremast and head gear gone. On Wednesday he passed between 300 and 400 iron bound casks thought to contain turpentine. The ship awaits orders.
Thanks Bob You are right. I have a bad copy of a copy of their record. Very hard to read. I have had a wonderful offer of help when we are in NS. Thank you to all who responded. Maybe I can finally get this cleared up. Regards, Deanna I read the father's occupation as a ship carpenter. Omitting the surname is common if it as the same as given for the child. Have spent 51 of my past 60y living outside of NS ... but .. my heart and soul have never left and when I cross onto that isthmus, we are reunited. It's a very emotional experience for me, each and every time. A Bluenoser I was born, a Bluenoser I'll die. "She's Called Nova Scotia" is sung by Rita MC NEIL of Big Pond Cape Breton. Rita has (think she still does) have a Tea Room in Big Pond or close to it. Sometimes she is there, greeting the tourists. > (Paul Landry, a elementary school teacher in Halifax, put both these > video's together) Wonder if he has any connection to the LANDRYs who were (still are?) out in Bedford?
