At our little theatre in Middle Musquodoboit - The Musquodoboit Valley Bicentennial Theatre & Cultural Centre - we have a rare piece of 19th century hand painted stage art painted by one of Canada's finest itinerant stage artists of the 19th century, William Gill. Just recently, the grandson of the artist discovered us and has been to visit the theatre to see the painting. The family has researched the ancestry and has the following information (see genealogy below). Although they have found the burial place of Edward Gill (father of the artist) they have been unable to locate that of his wife Catherine. We know that William, the artist lived with her for some time on Summer St. in Halifax after his father's death, but no record of her burial has been found. If anyone out there might be connected to this family and have more information on Catherine, I am sure the family would be very happy to know. Research on the artist, William (John William McKay Gill) by Dianne O'Neill and Patrick O'Neill has determined that "Born in Chatham, Kent, England, 6 June 1854, William Gill [the Artist]came to Halifax as a child of four when his father, a Royal Engineer pensioner, became gardener to Lord Mulgrave, Governor of Nova Scotia (1858-1863)." Hi List: Wondered if anyone can clear something up. I had a Margaret Rogers married to William Weatherbee/by. While checking the vital stats I noted that daughter Lydia Morines death record showed her parents as William Weatherbee and Margaret Bennett, her sister Ruth Crowell was the informant. I found a couple of the other childrens death record : Alice V Stevens, parents William Weatherbee and Margaret (Rogers). Informant was daughter Blanche. Mary Jane Rogers lists her parents as William Weatherbee and Margaret Rogers son Robert was informant. Marriage record of Daniel show parents as William Weatherbee and Margaret Rogers. I had Margaret as the daughter of Elijah and Margaret Rose Rogers born Jan 1844. There is a death record for a Margaret Weatherbee Born Jan 1840 Died April 11,1920 parents listed were Elisha Rogers and mother unknown, her son Daniel was the informant. ( Is this the same Margaret?) Would appreciate it anyone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks Ruth _________________________________________________________________ http://im.live.com/messenger/im/home/?source=hmtextlinkjuly07
Linda, The weather here in Nova Scotia has been spectacular for the past week or so - guess everyone has gone to the beach or is sipping a cool one in the shade. We will all be back soon enough. To all:- I also have noticed the very few messages on the NOVA-SCOTIA list - this could be due to vacations, special summer events and "just taking time off". If ambitiious to work at the computer, I invite all from the first province to reach 100% to assist with the last one. http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/ Click on BRITISH COLUMBIA -- it is strange the furthest province in the east would be first; now the province in the west is the last. Sign on with email address [safe] and a password. There must be 50 lines to a page and pages are claimed at 50 lines, which really is at the 51st line -- delete all except line number at far left. If wishing to claim page, click on CLAIM PAGE. If one does not desire to claim page, click on "return to ???" Should you wish to add address, find words "see why." The period is another program -- and addresses are entered at HEAD only. I suggest you jot down the line numbers where HEAD appears, before starting this program. We hope for fireworks by Civic Holidays!!! [Two days later this "downhomer" will be in Nova Scotia} Muriel M. Davidson Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee

It usually is this time of year. Vacations, lawns to mow, gardens to tend, hot nights on the deck.
As quiet as the morning dew here! I Believe Friends are quiet Angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to Fly...

Hi All, I am looking for any information on my 3g grandmother Sarah CAMPBELL and her siblings. The Thomas Miller book states that Samuel CAMPBELL and Rachel (Johnson) CAMPBELL had five daughters and five sons. I have only found two names for their children Sarah and Knapp CAMPBELL with a possibility for another son named Cyrus. Sarah was born 1817, Londonderry, Colchester County, NS. She died 1900, Greenfield, Colchester County, NS. She married William George JOHNSON. Knapp was born about 1818, Wallace, Cumberland County, NS. He died June 30 1876, Westchester, Colchester County, NS. He married Margaret HART. Any help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Cindy Donovan Truro, Nova Scotia
I have not used the Automated Genealogy Forum for at least a year. I cannot remember what user name I registered with. Many sites will not allow name with a space. I posted a query and gave one user name and my message posted OK, I think. When I went to my profile and used the same name and password my attempt was rejected. Does anyone know how to get my registered name? bob gillis

Greetings to those who follow the online edition. I just called the Herald, and there is a problem in the online department. Hopefully, they will be updated tonight, if not, Monday for sure. They will be placed on the appropiate date.. There are already eight obits slated for tomorrow, Sunday. Carol in Vancouver, BC ********************************** Any one on this list get today's Halifax Herald hardcopy.... The online edition seems unusual for the obits section. Only three obits and one memoriam were cited for today, unlike many that appear on a Saturday. Today's listing of obits and memoriams is like what appears in the Sunday edition.
