    1. [NS-L] Horne-Greenough marriage
    2. Hello - In Vital Statistics I have tried to call up a marriage between Jennie Greenough and Daniel Horne who married in 1930 but can't get it. Would anyone have this marriage on their radar. Many thanks Judy

    2. Jared Handspicker
    3. Hello Richard, This is not a line of mine, was merely offering additional reasoning for the choice of Robinson vs. Robertson. The information provided was, as indicated, found in an online "edition" of "The Outlook" from 1903, and on the Nova Scotia Vital Records site. Surely, Thomas Robinson Charlton and Robinson Thomas Charlton are one and the same person, perhaps he would go by "Robinson" to be distinguished from another Thomas? As for Harriet/Hannah, in some cases, could be same person, but I've also run across instances where that thinking led to serious confusion, and was later proved to be two separate wives, with two different "batches" of children. Just my 2 cents. Jared > Hi Jared > > Thank you. > > To add a few more folks to the mix - > > (1) The widow of John Henry BARTEAUX (I show) was Hannah Maria CHUTE. Is > it > Hannah or Harriet? 1. [NS-L] Eliza Robinson or Eliza Robertson
    2. Richard Hardwick
    3. Hi Jared Was hoping you were researching these folks. I did see the Middleton Outlook page (John Parker/Phil Vogler) showing that 10 "unnamed" children were indicated for George=Eliza so was hoping you might have the other 2 children, since I only have 8. As far as the Hannah-Harriet situation, I am showing 11 different sources identifying her as Hannah and this 12th source (newspaper account) being the only one showing her as Harriet. Could be a typo or a mistranscription at the site that you sent me to. But haven't ruled that 100% out as of yet. George CHARLTON=Hannah (nee) CHUTE married (their 2nd marriages) rather late in life. No children. He being 69 at the time and Hannah being 57. He doing so after he was married to Eliza ROBINSON for 41 years. Eliza dying 5 years before George remarried to Hannah. I'm not sure George would have time for a 3rd wife, but you never know. George died 10 years after he married Hannah. I'm more inclined to think there was just Eliza and Hannah as his wives and that "Harriet" may have been a mistranscription or a typo at that site and should have said "Hannah." However, I must admit that I have seen Harriet and Hannah interchanged in other families I study. All the info that I have on John Henry BARTEAUX (Hannah CHUTE's 1st husband) indicates that her name was Hannah as well. Taken from " Diary or Memoir of the life Of Captain Elijah Diamond, born in Newfoundland, January 9th, 1874." " "I heard there were plenty of Jobs in Boston, Mass., Both on land and on Sea, Especly on the Sea. I then decided to leave My Native land. I packed My Sea Bag and went to St.John's, N.F. [Newfoundland], got passage on a Small Steamship Bound for Halifax, Nova Scotia. When I arived at Halifax I went to the Sailors home, stayed there one Day and one Night. It cost me fifty cents for three Meals and one Nights lodging. The Sailors home was a Big Brick Building capable of accomadating probaly 200 Seamen. I underStood it was partly Suported By Brith [British] and Nova Scotia Shipping Co. It was for Seamen alone. When Ever a Ship Needed Crew, Members the Ships owners or the Ships Captain would apply there for his Crew Members. So it was used for a home and a Shipping office. If a Seaman was Stranded and had No Money he Could Stay there, get his food and lodgens [lodgings]. [He] would Be charged when he would get a Job. The Ship Co. or the Captain would pay the Bill and it would Be deducted from his wages. He did Not have any choice, he had to take the first Job offerd to him. It was diferant with the Seamen who could pay their way. They could do as they pleased, Same as in My case, I Simply Said I am Moving out, paid My Bill and left. Put My Bag on My Back, walked to the Rail-Road Station and Bought a Second Class ticket for Boston, Mass. I am thinking Now the ticket Cost Me about Nine Dollars. Travling then, like Everything Else, was Very cheap. There were two or three of these Second Class cars attached to Every train. And they were Second Class. The Seats were made of Iron frame, the Seat and Back were wooden Slats coverd with Varnish, Nothing More. I Boarded that train about nine A.M., was riding all that Day and Night. There was No place to lie down. I remember the car was crouded [crowded]. There was More people travling Second Class then (than) was travling first class. I arived in Boston about 4 P.M. Sext [Next?] Day. 3. While reading through an old genealogy, I came across an Arthur Schofield, who had a daughter, Phoebe, b. b. 25 Nov., 1777 at Horton, N.S. I'm not a Schofield researcher, so I could be wrong, but the place of birth looks suspicious. I thought the Schofields were Loyalists. I checked Wright's book - none there, so I went to my Loyalist file. I have a Jesse and a Paul Carpus Schofield in Cumberland Co. in 1785. Does Phoebe's father, Arthur, fit in? Thanks, Bill

    3. Hi Jared Thank you. To add a few more folks to the mix - (1) The widow of John Henry BARTEAUX (I show) was Hannah Maria CHUTE. Is it Hannah or Harriet? You show Harriet. I show Hannah. Several of my sources show Hannah. Maybe one and same? (2) I am showing George William CHARLTON's mother as Catherine GARDNER (3) I am showing Robinson Thomas CHARLTON as Thomas Robinson CHARLTON. Probably not an issue other than the fact that (in the son) the Robinson name pops up again giving rise to the fact that Eliza was probably a ROBINSON. (4) I have Thomas Robinson (or Robinson Thomas) also married to Rose CHUTE as well as Susan R UNKNOWN. ******************* Jared, in addition to Hannah vs Harriet question above, would you happen to have Thomas ROBINSON's wife's name (Thomas, father of Eliza ROBINSON)? I am only showing 8 children of George CHARLTON=Eliza ROBINSON - and you indicate 10. Might you have the 10 names so I can see who I am missing? 3. Hi George I am assuming that the MACDONALD (that you capitalized) is the "middle" name for the Hector DUNLOP mentioned as husband of wife Marion Evelyn DUNLOP (nee HUTCHINSON) in Rosemary's transcribed obit? Thanks for digging out this info Richard Richard Hardwick (Researching direct lines in Nova Scotia and New England - HARDWICK, ARMSTRONG, BARTEAUX, SPURR, HENDERSON, BLACKMAR, MARSH) RiHardwick@comcast.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Newbury" <georgen@ns.sympatico.ca> To: "Nova Scotia" <NOVA-SCOTIA@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 09, 2007 3:19 AM Subject: [NS-L] DUNLOP - Liverpool, Queens county > /United east cemetery on College Street, in Liverpool > / > > / > DUNLOP, John H. 1828 - 1906 > his wife, Anna J. 1828 - 1907 > Mary S................. 1844 - 1925 > Frances St. Clair . 1867 - 1952 > / > > /DUNLOP, Ambrose Hugh 1870 - 1943 > Rose Bell ....................... 1872 - 1932 > Hugh Elliott .................. 1903 - 1904 > Hector MACDONALD ... 1899 > Marion Evelyn .............. 1901 - 1973 > / > > /=========== > / > > /> From:/ "Richard Hardwick" < RiHardwick@comcast.net > <mailto:RiHardwick@comcast.net>> > /Subject:/ Re: [NS-L] [LL] Dunlop, Marion Evelyn > /Date:/ Tue, 7 Aug 2007 13:22:42 -0800 > > Thanks to Pearl Saunders, the obit that Rosemary transcribed on 4 August > was > from the Halifax Herald - Monday 15 October 1973. > - > - > <mailto:RiHardwick@comcast.net>----- Original Message ----- > From: "Richard Hardwick" < RiHardwick@comcast.net > <mailto:RiHardwick@comcast.net>> > To: "Rosemary Rafuse" < rjrafuse@hotmail.com > <mailto:rjrafuse@hotmail.com>>; < Lunen-Links@rootsweb.com > <mailto:Lunen-Links@rootsweb.com>>; > < robertaj@bwr.eastlink.ca <mailto:robertaj@bwr.eastlink.ca>>; < > CAN-NS-OBITS@rootsweb.com <mailto:CAN-NS-OBITS@rootsweb.com>>; > < brhodenizer@bwr.eastlink.ca <mailto:brhodenizer@bwr.eastlink.ca>> > Cc: "Pearl Saunders" < pearl.saunders@ns.sympatico.ca > <mailto:pearl.saunders@ns.sympatico.ca>>; > < NOVA-SCOTIA-L@rootsweb.com <mailto:NOVA-SCOTIA-L@rootsweb.com>> > Sent: Saturday, August 04, 2007 7:52 AM > Subject: Re: [LL] Dunlop, Marion Evelyn > > > I have Hector DUNLOP as Hector DUNLAP.
