Hi Di, These links are to Barrie Chapman's website "Australian Redcoat", which give a bit of background to the 50th West Kent Queen's Own (in Australia 1834-1841 and 1866-1869). I couldn't find mention of William McKENZIE anywhere on the site though (although Barrie usually names only those who settled in Australia and not those who moved on). They served in Sydney, and on Norfolk Island, as well as Tasmania (arrived 1834, departed 1841) and later in Adelaide. They left Australia in January 1841 for India - http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~garter1/50thfoot.htm http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~garter1/surnames50th.htm http://www.diggerhistory.info/pages-conflicts-periods/other/british_army-in-aust.htm History of the 50th Regiment - http://www.archive.org/stream/historythorquee00fylegoog/historythorquee00fylegoog_djvu.txt There were no marriages in NSW or Tasmania during their time here for this couple as far as I could see.
