    3. Thanks for that Bill , I haven't really got to to grips with the new IGI yet and couldn't find that . So even more of a mystery as to why the plaque is there . Unless mother Mary is the connection ? Apparently there is a plaque in St. Marys Church , Nottingham for a Lieutenant James Still who died in 1822 , off Sierra Leone ,whilst on the HMS Pheasant a ship and crew that was trying to clear up the slave trade . image here: http://www.geolocation.ws/v/W/File%3ALieutenant%20James%20Still%20memorial.jpg/-/en I cannot find a birth for James Still and its a bit of a mystery as I can't see any link to Nottingham for him . Can anyone find a birth for him ? I wonder why that stone is in St. Marys ? This is the only newspaper announcement of his death I can see : Salisbury. Lieutenant James Still, of his Majesty's ship Pheasant, son Peter Still, Esq. Devonshire-place (London). the inst. died, his residence Bath.......... Salisbury and Winchester Journal South West, England 18/03/1822 Article There is a wedding for what looks like James Stills sister , Marian Still to Arthur Wilton Dashwood 15/05/1827. Alexander Dashwood, to Marian Still, youngest daughter of Peter Still, Esq. of Devonshire-place. Morning Post London, England 16/05/1827 Article According to a tree on rootsweb , Marian Still was born Tytherley, Hants in 1804 . OK , James Still was born about 1799 so its possible his father , Peter Still could have lived in Notts prior to his move to a posh part of London (Devonshire Place) but no evidence , so a mystery !
