    3. Hi Doreen I had a cast around for your missing Joseph in 1851 but found no sign using the normal methods It is possible he was missed off the transcription by the enumerator, or was enumerated under another name with a relative, or perhaps in some institution somewhere (I favour the first option) As to Matilda in 1861 How about 1861 England Census about Matilda Hind Name: Matilda Hind Age: 13 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1848 Relation: Daughter Father's Name: John Hind Mother's Name: Matilda Hind Gender: Female Where born: Nottinghamshire, England Civil Parish: St Nicholas Town: Nottingham County/Island: Nottinghamshire Country: England Registration District: Nottingham Sub-registration District: Castle ED, institution, or vessel: 11e Neighbors: View others on page Household Schedule Number: 132 Piece: 2467 Folio: 89 Page Number: 26 Household Members: Name Age John Hind 34 Matilda Hind 36 Matilda Hind 13 Ann Mariott 22 Source Citation: Class: RG 9; Piece: 2467; Folio: 89; Page: 26; GSU roll: 542975. 3. Doreen, I'm not sure of your concern. It looks pretty convincing to me. While you've typed 1841 instead of 1851, it looks like Joseph was simply missed off 1851 census or was away with relatives and perhaps recorded under a different surname. But he's back with the family at the same address in 1861. You say he's a grand uncle. So if you're happy to accept this as the family of your grandparent, there can be no question of doubt. The only query is his whereabouts in 1851. You could look for relatives like aunts, uncles or grandparents or you might like to see if Find My Past has a better transcription. But if he's been missed or the enumerator got it wrong. he's never to be found. Peter
