    3. Hi List, If a soldier was shot in WW1 as a coward or a deserter, are there any records or would he just be included in the war dead? Thanks Shirley

Try Googling on "Shot for desertion or cowardice" and you will find them. A good one is http://firstworldwar.cloudworth.com/cowards-executed- war.php Google should ALWAYS be your first port of call since it is a vast worldwide reference library and can usually supply the answer to just about any question. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." 3. Hi Shirley The one I know of is listed on the CWGC with no indication of being executed, I do not know if his death is registered with the War casualties but would expect it would be, casualties death certs are not very informative, normally giving killed in action, died of wounds or similar If you google for Shot at Dawn there are many sites on the subject, some list names Such as this one http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~dccfarr/sad.htm The following is the best site I know on WW1 and may help you in your search http://www.1914-1918.net/ Best wishes Nivard Ovington, in Cornwall (UK) > Hi List, > If a soldier was shot in WW1 as a coward or a deserter, are there any > records or would he just be included in the war dead? > > Thanks > Shirley
