From: EdisWorld@aol.com > Thank you to everyone who helped me re Elzabeth Gertrude Edis. > Regards > Kenneth > Well, fine, but are you happy with the replies we gave you and do you think we identified the right people? The whole point of posting a query, surely, is to initiate a dialogue which indicates whether you think you have acquired the information you desired or not and whether it has solved your problem, or whether you believe there is more to be learned. Frankly, I get the impression you are not very experienced at this kind of thing, in which case I respectfully suggest you offer a more comprehensive reply to our messages. There may well be more we can help you with, but I have no inclination to put myself out any further to do so unless I know it is going to be appreciated and acted upon. For instance, we may well be able to tell you how to take your researches back further from the parents of Elizabeth Gertrude Edie. Or is this not what you wanted when you posted your initial message in the first place? -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." Well, here we go again!.....Can I just say that I have bit my tongue, not only on this list which I have been a member for 10 years, but on other lists too. Whilst I can agree with most of Roy's comments, surely this is not the place to post them. It must put new people off, who have recently joined. Please Roy, can I ask you kindly to make your comments off list. It's like this in my case, I will help anyone on the list If I have the time and resources, this is a great list to be on, but If I don't get thanked then I don't help again. Sometimes we have to think about what we post and this sort of thing is clearly off topic even though I might agree with some of what you say.
