    3. Hello everyone, Just updating some of my Nottinghamshire families and am wondering if anyone has any information on Martha GODDARD wife of Samuel PAXTON. They married 10 Dec 1733, Greasley. I have nothing on Martha and have been looking for ages. Am happy to share any information I have on my other Nottinghamshire families. Cheers Margot Gladstone, QLD Australia Researching in Nottinghamshire: Marriott, Dewsbury, Corbet, Cheetham, Straw, Leivers, Paxton, Goddard, Jarvis, Bostock, Briggs, Chamberlain, White, Woodcock, Attenborough, James, Wootton, Walker, Spencer, Daye, Wilkinson, Burgeis, Hutchinson, Hulford

    3. Hi Margot I know absolutely nothing abour Martha GODDARD, but if you have not already done so, I respectfully suggest you have a look at Ilkeston (Derbyshire), which was next door (in 1733) There was a least one female GODDARD marrying in Ilkeston around 1744 and a male in 1735 - (remember the calendar had not yet changed) The Derbyshire County Record Office at Matlock and the references are: MATLOCK R.O. Ref:- D 3082. AP1. 1 / 3. 27. 07. 1735. ELEANOR RICHARDS and JONATHAN GODDARD were married. 03. 10. 1744. SAMUEL RICHARDS and DIANA GODDARD married. 09. 03. 1744. JOHN son of SAMUEL and DIANA RICHARDS buried with affadavit. Note : The baptism of this child JOHN has not yet been found. Hope this helps - apologies this email has suddenly started printing in bold and "double lines" Sorry, I cannot help you further. 3. Am I the only one who finds the new ancestry.co.uk Home page a complete disaster ? As one who had very limited interest in US content (and doesn't have a subscription) I was perplexed to be presented with a collection of default links from My Quick Links that are almost exclusively to US resources. OK, I can modify it but have to scramble around to find the URLs ! Not simply choose from various options. Not surprisingly, I wanted a link to the UK BMD Collection. Luckily, I happened to have one in my browser favourites or I would be still looking for the URL. Still haven't found one for the UK Military Collection or UK Emigration Collection. Ancestry claims it is easier to access what you need. AS all I ever needed was previously on the Home page and now it isn't, I have found it far more difficult. And its virtually impossible to contact them to make a point. Is it just me ? David Hallam david@beeston-notts.co.uk
