From: "Margaret thompson" > can anyone tell me please if possible who William Edward Morgan > married on December 1901 in Birmingham.6d 280. thank you.Maggie.> I am not entirely clear why you are asking this on the Nottinghamshire list, since Birmingham is in Warwickshire. However, looking at the entry at FreeBMD, William Edward Morgan must have married either Amelia LEAVENTON or Lily PICKERING. The fourth name on the page is John OLDAKER. The marriage must have occurred a few months after the 1901 census. If you look at that census there is only one William Edward Morgan then resident in Birmingham and there is an Amelia Leaventon, both being born about 1879. I cannot see an obvious candidate for Lily Pickering but I see two John Oldakers in Birmingham, both born about 1872. On the balance of probabilities, given the ages, I would hazard a guess - but no more - that William Edward Morgan married Amelia Leaventon, since they would seem to be identical in age. However, there is only one way to be sure which is to purchase the birth certificate. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." Either Amelia or Lily Marriages Dec 1901 ================== Leaventon Amelia Birmingham 6d 280 MORGAN William Edward Birmingham 6d 280 OLDAKER John Birmingham 6d 280 PICKERING Lily Birmingham 6d 280 Looking at later births Births Dec 1911 =================== Oldaker Thomas (Leavington) Birmingham 6d 201 suggests William married Lily and John married Amelia. Not that one should take this as being correct without other proof. In fact, there were also four children called OLDAKER with a mother whose maiden name was LEAVENTON with births registered at Birmingham between 1914 and 1920 (FreeBMD). Thus, John Oldaker must have married Amelia Leaventon and William Edward Morgan married Lily Pickering. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
