Hello Listers, I have a William PAILING wife and child removed from Orston to Thorpe as place of their last legal settlement. I presume that the reason for this was that he and his family became subject to poor relief? As William was christened (probably born) in Orston do I conclude that his fathers place of settlement was not Orston? Could Thorpe therfore be his fathers place of legal settlement or alternatively just as a result of William possibly having worked there for the requisite period to gain settlement? Would appreciate advice as I am drawing a blank on determining where William's father Amos came from who married Hannah Pacey in Orston in 1791.
