    3. Hej! It is important to make family history information available as much as possible but I doubt whether Facebook is the right forum for this, especially after reading an article in The Guardian from last year. I certainly will not be regestering my name with this site. For those who are interested, the article can be read at: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2008/jan/14/facebook Best wishes Graham Freeman G?teborg, Sweden ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nottinghamshire FHS" <nottinghamshire@msn.com> To: "NOTTSGEN-L" <nottsgen-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 10, 2009 10:11 PM Subject: [NTT] Off topic! 3. Well said. Facebook really is for saddos, and this article also highlights how others get hold of your published thoughts and use them. There was a report in The Daily Telegraph a week or so ago where a youth was sacked from his job after he had written up on Facebook how boring it was. This is incredible. It's like the boss following you to the pub after work and listening to your conversations with your pals about your job. You wouldn't stand for that would you? 3. I totally agree with Brian and Graham. I actually regard sites like Facebook as quite dangerous and never go on them, even if someone sends me an email to say I have been listed as a friend. There are hundreds of other sites far more suitable for discussing or uploading family history details - if that's what folk want to do. I am not a member of the Notts FHS, but if I was, I'd be rather wary of this went ahead. 3. I couldn't be bothered with the full Guardian article but I did notice: ' Anyone can glance at your intimate confessions ' Surely the simple answer to that is: do not post your intimate confessions online. I may or may not decide to check out the new group but I am sure that, used sensibly and observing good internet security, we do not need to get hysterical about it. Cliff
