    3. Hi Alice   Just looked again and found this:   John Clark m. Sarah Lacton 18/09/1804 In Of Car Carlton which is very very close to Hawksworth. Might be worth considering. The couple mentioned were my husband's gt.gt. grandparents. I started looking at them again to see if I could unravel the family legend about John's antecedents. However, I see from my notes that another family member suggested that Sarah was originally BROUGHTON. If so she might well be the Sarah Broughton whose Christening on 26.Sept. 1773 in Hawksworth is an extracted record on the IGI. This would match the births of most of John and Sarah's children in Hawksworth between 1800 and 1814 or later (I have no birth dates for two children). My problem is that I can find no sign of a marriage. Hawksworth is covered by Phillimore, but there is no suitable listing. Nor is there in the version that I have of Notts FHS Marriages. As far as I know the new Marriages disk isn't out yet. Has anyone come across a marriage between John and Sarah, possibly in the years just before 1800 in Hawksworth or a nearby parish? I know people didn't necessarily marry before the first child, or at all, but one has to start somewhere.
