Hi Tammy, The first place to look for births marriages and deaths after September 1837 is FreeBMD http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/ This web site is in the process of transcription, so is not yet complete, but is close to it up to about 1910. You can see charts on the site showing which years have been done. I checked for William BEETON between 1841 and 1845, and there is no registration in Nottinghamshire. There is a William BEESTON in Nottingham in the September Quarter of 1842: Births Sep 1842 Beeston William Nottingham 15 543 Using this information, you can order a birth certificate from the General Record Office (GRO) site at http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/ Notts FHS also sell a CD of transcriptions of baptisms that took place in the county. Again not complete, there is no William BEETON around the time you want (The only one with father John was in 1787), and the only William BEESTONs with father John were in 1841 and 1859. Using Ancestry.co.uk, I too could find in the 1851 census no William BEETON born in Notts 1843 with a father John. I could find a William BEESTON, born in Blyth and living in Worksop: John Beeston 37 Elizth Beeston 35 Charles Curl 13 William Beeston 9 Mary Jane Beeston 6 John C Beeston 4 Richard Beeston 1 There are many possibilities that will be very difficult to follow up e.g he changed his name for some reason when emigrating, possibly using his mother or grandparents maiden names. There are on the Notts FHS CD in 1843 50 baptisms of William with a father's name John. It doesn't look as if your search is going to be simple. regards, Dai Bevan Tamhbrih@aol.com wrote: > Hello All, > I'm new to the overseas research.
