The type of stone known locally as Bulwell sand stone, in fact if I recall is a type of lime stone, maybe someone will correct me on this used for garden walls and some local churches Also, where in Bulwell would one be a flower pot maker. I'm trying to get a feel for what my ancestors lives must have been like. The company that made plant pots in Bulwell was Sankeys The pots were of red clay. They later also made plant pots from reclaimed plastic. Sankeys and the stone quarries were all in the same area, "a stones throw away", pun not intended. > > I know that Willliam Bramley was born in Bulwell in 1856, but there are > several William Bramleys listed, How would I go about finding the right > one? > > On the other side of the family, Parnham, my Great grandfather in 1871 is > listed as living in Normanton, notts and is listed as a Police Constable. > I knew there were some disreputable people in my family background but not > this bad, Police, argggg.
