Oh my Gosh, Dai, Keith and Barbara - thank you so much for all of your replies. I do think I'm going to have quite a time with my William and finding his parents. I also need to keep in mind that his death certificate could be wrong in naming his father John and his birthday could be off a year too. I have ran into these problems before through the years with other family members. I do so thank you all for the help. Dai - is Beeston another name for Beeton over your way? I have found my William's last name spelled so many different ways (smile) Even his ship record on the index is spelled Beston. Another tidbit is that he did go back to England for a visit in 1902 - to Derby. Of course it doesn't say who he went to visit (darn it). Also the first time he came over in 1864 he was listed next to the Jessee Fower family on the manifest who was also from Derby and They ended up in Utah together. Still haven't found a connection - if there is even a connection (grin) Anyway, Just wanted to thank all of you! sure appreciated it! Tammy, I'm no expert on the BEETON name, but knowing how names change, I would imagine that it could easily be BEESTON. Have you checked out the shipping list, on Findmypast.com (and possibly others)? The search pulls up Wm BEETON born 1843 leaving Liverpool in 1902 for New York. I don't have a subscription so can't pull up the full page. You may also find something on the US immigration if you don't have it already. regards, Dai Tamhbrih@aol.com wrote: > */Oh my Gosh,/* > */Dai, Keith and Barbara - thank you so much for all of your replies./* > */I do think I'm going to have quite a time with my William and > finding his parents./* > */I also need to keep in mind that his death certificate could be > wrong in naming his father John and his birthday could be off a year > too. No I am sorry, it does not work! Bt there is nothing really extra to see. He is among a list of people of similar status I think, several labourers and servants, also infants -unnamed in some cases. They could be all unconnected or even a big household..no clues that I can see Jean > Message du 17/02/09 20:19 > De : "Dai & Angela Bevan" > A : Tamhbrih@aol.com > Copie à : NOTTSGEN@rootsweb.com > Objet : Re: [NTT] Researching Family Name of Beeton > > > Tammy, > I'm no expert on the BEETON name, but knowing how names change, I would > imagine that it could easily be BEESTON.
