    3. Well Barbara, Hasn't Laurie turned up gold dust! It seems to me your Great Grandpa was a bit of a lad! 2nd wife younger than his chhildren. I went systematically though find my past and found only 2 Kate BURN s marrying between 1901 and 1911, one in Newton A 1903 and one in Tynemouth 1905. The latter could well have been a possible, but no Sam Taylor appears in the complementary index. I presume that their marriage was a polite fiction! (Well, they could have gone abroad, but that seems unlikely) He would I think have been too old for a foreign military marriage Maybe your Grandpa was following in his dad's footsteps.... 3. Hi Jean & List Unfortunately, the info Laurie found was old info of mine, from about 5 years ago. Thanks to the 1911 census I have been able to prove that the Samuel Taylor born 1854 in Hucknall Torkard is NOT my GGrandfather. He was still in the same place 12 years later when he died and his daughter Lizzie was by his side. I have found a Sam Taylor born 1877 in Prestwich Lancs who in 1891 was listed as a violininst and in 1901 as a musician that was boarding in London – in Fulham and was a musician – it isn’t that much of stretch to go from a musician in 1901 to a music teacher in 1906 – I just can’t find him yet in the 1911 census. I tried searching the BDM’s for a Taylor Burn marriage, I suspect they either didn’t marry or she was previously married. 3. Well done! I have found both those entries too, good luck with further hunting. I do not have access to 1911 yet, but I too have a couple of musicians in various places. It does make searching a bit easier! Maybe you do have a bit of a start now. Do any of those names match any further down? Sometimes I have found inherited names quite useful to verify family links You have the Sam, what about Ann, Violet, Harry, Richard and Ann?
