Hello, I wondered if anyone might have access to information on my ancestor Robert COCKING who married a Dorothy [unknown surname] I would say about 1824 in the area of Tuxford and Weston, Nottinghamshire. I have concluded they are the parents of my ancestor, Thomas COCKING who was born in 1737. I have scanned through the Tuxford & Weston LDS films of parish/Bishops Transcripts without locating a marriage, or a baptism for Robert. I believe he was a Wheelwright. The info I have on their children is as follows: Notes on Robert Cocking & wife Dorothy: LDS IGI shows 4 baptisms in Nottinghamshire in correct time period, 2 in Tuxford, 2 in Weston, which is not far away. Two additional Baptisms also found. 1. 1725, 9 Apr, Weston, John, male, son of Robert Cocking & Dorothy. Film 504052 viewed Nov 2011. Robert is a Church Warden 2. 1727, 15 Jul, Weston, Robert, male, son of Robert Cocking & Dorothy. film # 504054. Viewed Nov 2011. Robert is a Church Warden 3. 1731, 7 Jul, Tuxford, George, male, son of Robert Cocking & Dorothy. Film 504052 viewed Nov 2011. 4. 1733, 16 Feb, Tuxford, William, son of Robert & Dorothy Cockayne. Film 504052, not in IGI, viewed Nov 2011. 5. 1737, 23 Feb.,Tuxford, Thomas, son of Robert & Dorothy Cockayne. Film 504052. Not in IGI. Viewed Nov 2011. 6. 1743, 11 Sept, Tuxford, Joseph, male, son of Robert Cocking & Dorothy. indexing proj: C05409-2, film # 504052. Viewed film 504052 Nov 2011. This would fit with all 4 of the Cocking brothers in our family, both for names and year of birth based on other records like census, or burials, plus 2 new ones Robert & George who may not have lived to have families. Additionally, Joseph named one of his daughters Dorothy, which does not seem like a very common name here. I have done thus as a "reply all" because others may be able to expand on what I have. These are not my direct line but my gt gt grandparents, John and Eliza Wright, seem to have been friends of the Cockayne family. Both families were members firstly of Castle Gate Congregational Church and later were ery instrumental in Sent from my iPhone On 24 Feb 2012, at 17:26, "Jim Ward" <[email protected]> wrote: > Hello, > I wondered if anyone might have access to information on my ancestor Robert COCKING who married a Dorothy [unknown surname] I would say about 1824 in the area of Tuxford and Weston, Nottinghamshire.
