Good Morning I have found a death for Eliza Crickmay on BMD June Qtr of 1866 If I take out a subscription for Find My Past will it give me more details? Like Mother & Father? Thanks Susan In Sunny Beaverton, Ontario
Unfortunately not, Susan - this site http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/indexbd.htm gives you a guide as to what information to expect from certificates. You would only get both parents' names from her birth certificate. I note she was only 7 years old when she died in 1866. Therefore, she must be the Eliza Crickmay whose birth was registered at Westminster in the June quarter of 1859 (vol 1a page 256 - found with FreeBMD), However, if you look at the 1861 census at Findmypast I think you will find that the family has been mistranscribed as DICKMAY. I have looked at the image and I am certain the name is CRICKMAY. If I am right, then she was the daughter of Edward Crickmay, a tailor aged 36, and his wife Eliza, 26, and in 1861 they were living at Clewer, Berkshire, in the Windsor registration district. Eliza was aged 2, born 1859 at London Middlesex which would seem to fit. I feel it likely that this was her but I would advise you to get the birth certificate (or check Ancestry's London parish registers) if you want to be certain. The 1861 reference is: RG09 Piece 761, folio 113, page 24. There was also a son aged four called Frederick. -- Roy Stockdill Genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."
