Rosemary, To give you some idea of the housing in that area, check out the www.picturethepast.org.uk website and search for Moores Yard. This was on Pelican Street and was where my Greatgrandmother was on the 1891 census. I do not know, but I imagine that the houses, yards and courts on Chapel Street were very similar.
