There was another Plimsoll Terrace in Hyson Green. This was off Plimsoll Street which in turn was off Bobbers Mill Road. You will need to find out which Plimsoll Terrace it is that the newspaper is referring to. I can send you a scan off list of the area. The map I have is 50 inches to 1 mile, so is very detailed, but it is a map of the 1960s with a lot of redevelopment, so am not sure if the houses shown are the terraced houses in existence in the 1930s. Hello folks I have uncovered 1934/35 newspaper article(s) telling of the court case of a Thomas Newham of Plimsoll Terrace who robbed the meter and went off for some time before handing himself in as he was fed-up of wandering! He was later imprisoned leaving his young family to the mercies of the means test - his character was reported to be quite worthless. this does rather back up family folklore which said he tended to wander off,was not a good father and was in prison possibly more than once PLUS he also managed to invalid himself out of the trenches of WW1 by shooting himself in the foot. I have found his attestation records which appear to indicate this story is true! That's the background but what id like to know is: Where was Plimsoll Terrace? Would Thomas have been sent to Nottingham Prison and would there be records of his time there?
