[ie - copy of the entry in the death register, but not death certificate]. The register entry usually includes "Length of time in NZ", which will help you to identify his year of migration. Nga mihi. Calling all GODDARD researchers In order to help a young couple trace any descendants of a WW2 Hero, I am looking for anyone who can link to Frederick Goddard, bc 1840 Andover, Hants., his son Sydney F. Goddard, b.c.1873, Nottingham, and his grandson Peter Holland Goddard, born c.1914 in London. We have been able to build up a tree tracing back to Henry Goddard, b.c. 1810 at Market Harborough, Leics. from BMD, census, etc. Other members of the extended family were Dental Surgeons and Ironfounders in Nottingham. Peter Holland Goddard worked with the SAS and Resistance in France and was killed in action in 1944, at the age of 29, and is buried in a village in Burgundy, France. Probate records mention Stoke on Trent, Staffs. His widow was Bettine Elaine, nee List. She may have died in Jan. 2005 in S.E. Hampshire. His grave has been tended over the years by a local French family and his memory is still much revered for his efforts with the local Resistance Group. A grandson of this French family and his partner, living in UK, are now attempting to trace Peter's children, Hugh and Cynthia Goddard (born c. 1941-4), or other descendants as they feel they would like them to be fully aware of how his memory still is held dear by the French villagers. There is a chance that this Goddard family has an indirect link to my own gt. grandmother's family - Elizabeth Gothard (a corruption of Goddard) b. Appleby Magna, who married into the Butler-Cutts lace family - hence my own interest following a request for assistance in the Goddard Association of Europe Newsletter. Thank you. Mavis born Nottingham, now in Somerset.

I have been looking for a burial for our Ann(Hannah) Whit(t)aker for ages but can not find it. I have her death certificate for 29th June 1874 at her family home in Platoff Street, Sneinton, Nottingham, witnessed by her sister and have searched the Rock and Church cemetery records for both the Mar-Jun and Jul-Sep qtrs, to no avail. Ann is shown on the 1871 census living with Thomas Terr(e)y and her son-the census says married but no marriage has been found and she died with the name Whittaker on her certificate. I have tried as many versions and combinations of Terr(e)y and Whit(taker) as I could think of ....so... before I give up the search for now, could her burial be unrecorded or am I missing some other burial record that others may know of ? I would be welcome any suggestions or advice on this.
