    1. [NTT] BOWN Family
    2. Patricia Hedley
    3. Hi List I am researching the family of BOWN from Nottingham for a colleague in work and wondered if there was SKS who could help me solve a mystery. I have aquired the Will of Reuben BOWN born 1898 died in Guernsey, parents William John BOWN and Ellen WRIGGLESWORTH. In the Will he states that one of his requests is that a plaque is put on the grave of his parents in The General Cemetery, Nottingham. Grave No.17118, Plot No.399-10-8, Vol 346 with the inscription as follows:- "In loving memory of Ellen BOWN nee Wigglesworth, wife of William John Bown died 1917 also William John Bown died 1948 from their son Reuben and daughter-in-law Linda and also other sons and daughters including baby son Arthur" That is where the mystery comes in who is Arthur. Would it be possible for someone if living nearby could go and photograph the plaque or just see what was put on there, if any dates were put for Arthur. I live in South Wales and another relative who would love to find out is living in Taiwan so to far for us to travel. Regards Patricia

    3. Hi I have a John Sandford Robinson born 1868 Arnold, Notts who I believe died in 1898. I have not found a marriage for this chap but in 1898 there is a John Sandford Robinson born, Nottingham reg. district. The use of Sandford as a middle name leads me to believe this child must be related - anyone know anything about him? Sheila

    3. Sorry if its already been mentioned (and more use to those of us miles away) but had a good tour round Nottingham City Centre earlier , using the new Street view option in Google maps. Just go here : http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?utm_campaign=en_GB&utm_medium=lp&utm_source=en_GB-lp-emea-gb-gns-svn type a street name , eg Huntingdon Street,Nottingham and on the resulting page select the street-view option that pops up .You just follow the arrows to navigate along the road ,can do 360 degree turns and zoom in too. Last night saw the Thurland Pub where my wife's mum once worked and her Grandmas house off Gordon Road at Thorneywood. "Its an opportunity for those out of the area to see where ancestors lived, that is, if the building hasn't been torn down or the page removed because someone complained ." I know there are privacy issues but for those that have never visited , worth a look !
