On the 1861 census her parents are listed as John and Eliza Fletcher. John was born in Farnsfield in about 1834 and Eliza was born in Mansfield in about 1835 Is anyone else researching Fletcher? Thomas and Ann had about 9 children with the last being born in about 1719. Any information about Thomas' death and/or burial greatly appreciated. Noho ora mai, Bryce Kihirini

Deaths were not registered in national records until after civil registration was introduced into England and Wales on 1st July 1837. All you are likely to find is a burial entry in a parish register and in the mid-18th century, when Thomas probably died, you are unlikely to find the precise date of death. Normally, all you can do is assume it took place within a few days of the burial. The National Burial Index, which is found at Findmypast.com, has details of 31 Thomas Allens buried in Nottinghamshire, but none before 1791 which is too late for your purposes. -- Roy Stockdill Professional genealogical researcher, writer & lecturer Newbies' Guide to Genealogy & Family History: www.genuki.org.uk/gs/Newbie.html "There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." Graham, There is a Bartram Family in Eakring in 1851: John Bartram 52 Mary Bartram 48 Ann Bartram 15 Ellen Bartram 9 Tom Bartram 6 William Bartram 63 Dai Graham Taylor wrote: > Dear Notts Researchers > > > > I am researching Thomas BARTRAM believed born Eakring (Southwell) 1845 who > married Emma (Fearnehaugh ?) in Sheffield June 1867. > > > > May I ask if anyone has access to any Eakring records or the 1851 Census > that might help me identify any parents/siblings of Thomas please? Dear Notts Researchers I am researching Thomas BARTRAM believed born Eakring (Southwell) 1845 who married Emma (Fearnehaugh ?) in Sheffield June 1867. May I ask if anyone has access to any Eakring records or the 1851 Census that might help me identify any parents/siblings of Thomas please? It looks as if BARTRAMs may have been in and around Eakring/Ollerton for many years prior to the birth of Thomas. Many thanks Graham
Hi, I'm looking for any information on my grandfather's family. I've done quite a bit of research but have yet to connect him to anyone living in England (or anyone other than my immediate family), and so think he and his brother may well be the end of a line of Boothbys. Looking for correction or confirmation. My grandfather was: John Oswald Boothby, born Sleaford December 20, 1903 His brother is Stanley Boothby, born Sleaford 1905 His father was John Willie Boothby, b. High Bickington, Devon 1882(3); His mother, Alice Drury, b. Boston 1880; died during the 1918 influenza. Any clues as to burial location: death certificate reads: November 24, 1918: 37 Kingsley Road, Nottingham South East; The parents married in Bawtry with Austerfield in 1902, had two children while living at 19 Millfield Terrace, Newsleaford, England, UK; At the time, John Willie Boothby was employed as a brewer’s traveler; By 1911, the family relocated to Nottingham where the parents ran the Prince Alfred Public Inn (Public House), Heathcote Street, Nottingham. Does anyone have any information about the pub's history - whether the building still exists, is it still an inn/pub? I'm also looking to confirm whether a property in Frithville - Ivy House on Carrington Rd, PE22 7DY - was inherited and inhabited by John Willie Boothby sometime between 1918 & 1930; if so, I'd also like to know what happened to it (eg. willed to sons and sold, or sold before, etc). John Oswald Boothby left the UK in 1928, lived in the US until 1939 when he moved to Canada. He returned to England c. 1942. where he had an aunt by the last name of Martin, living Swinburne Grove, Manchester. Any information on her and her family would also be greatly appreciated. Mostly, I'm looking for proof of death; the last trace I have of him is a passenger list where he is leaving Southampton for Singapore, then Australia. I have a million more questions but will wait to see what this brings. Any related information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Michelle

Hi List, I wonder if anyone has come across this abbreviation before and could tell me what it means "B.A.P.H. Spinster" This was written on a couple of baptisms for illegitimate children baptised at St. Mary's church, Bulwell. I asked at the archives but they didn't know what it meant either. Any ideas? Regards Shirley
Hi Shirley, This question has been raised before - a few years ago now. Then it was thought to mean "Born At Parish Home" This may or may not be correct but I hope it helps. Is there anyone who could help, please? I am trying to find the burial place for Abraham LONGDON who died aged 74 in Kimberley, registered 15 Nov 1850. I would be grateful for any suggestions or pointers. Sian MacKian
Hi Listers, I am looking for information about a building used as a nursing home or similar establishment in the 1930s. The address of the building was 17 Annesley Road, which I think, was between the old Co-Op building and an old church. The rear of the establishment was on Ogle Street. It could be the the building that has now been converted to apartments. If possible I would like to know the name of the establishment and if it was a council or private operation. Any information would be appreciated Regards Paul
Hi Gordon No luck at Newark library I'm afraid. Checked Farndon baptism's but nothing found although some of the entries were difficult to read. Checked Flintham but unable to read at all and no baptism's took place at East Stoke for that time. Graham Williams
