    1. [NORWOOD] DNA testing opportunity and report

    3. Dear Friends <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/friends-family-history.ashx>, The Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> DNA Project has been growing. Some exciting developments include a new participant from the line of Joshua Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx>, son of immigrant Francis of Gloucester, Massachusetts <http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.massachusetts/mb.ashx>, whose results have just come in, and submission of test kits for two English <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/english-family-history.ashx> Norwoods from the Kent lines. We are still very eager for male Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> descendants of George Norwood, son of immigrant William Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> of Surrey <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/surrey-family-history.ashx> Co., Virginia, to participate in the project. And we would like male Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> descendants of the other sons of immigrant Francis Norwood: Thomas, Francis, Jr., and Caleb <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/caleb-family-history.ashx>, to participate as well. (This is not to ignore members of other Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> families, including those out of Maryland <http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland/mb.ashx> and Bermuda whom we also very strongly encourage to participate.) Other good news is that you can get DNA test kits for less by using the following link. I'd encourage any male Norwoods to participate in the Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> y-DNA Project, which, given time, will be a very useful resource for all Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> genealogists. http://www.familytreedna.com/lp/sizzling-summer-sale.aspx Best wishes, Dick Norwood <http://www.ancestry.com/facts/norwood-family-history.ashx> descendants of George What follows is a story that illustrates the usefulness of DNA testing in genealogy: * Success Stories!* *Debra Nowell,* Project Administrator for the *Dunbar Project*, has some interesting success stories on the project website. Here's one: 'The Dunbar Y-DNA Project has its second 67/67 "exact" marker match. The first 67/67 match was between two Robert of Hingham, MA 1693, USA descendants. The 2nd exact match….Both men have completely different pedigrees…one ancestor immigrated to Canada…..the other to America. We'd have never put these two men together if not for DNA testing. Plus, due to extensive Ireland research by one of these Participants, we may have found a descendant of the brother of their ancestor. Both Participants are scrambling to prove that connection. To top it off, we may have found the whereabouts of a third brother."
