    1. [NORWOOD] Joshua Norwood and Sarah Aldrich
    2. Jim Dempsey
    3. Katherine and the list. Found marriage in NEHGS website database by chance. I went to Providence, Attleboro, Taunton, last May and got a lot more information mostly deeds. Jim Dempsey Joshua Norwood Junior (Joshua, Francis) was born 18 Oct 1707 “son of Joshua & Elizabeth Norwood” possibly at Pigeon cove (GVR 1-494; Babson-119) Ebenezer Pool says he was a twin but this is not found in the Gloucester records . Note: Pool references (EPx) from E. Pool papers at Sandy Bay Historical Society. 1732 This is about the year his father sold his land at Pigeon Cove and went to Attleborough. Joshua jr. also went there, but exactly when or why is not known. This was a time of inflation culminating in the Land Bank collapse of 1740. 1735 He was of Attleboro when intended marriage Oct. 11, 1735, to Elizabeth Ide (AVR ). Only one Elizabeth Ide is in Attleboro records, the dau. of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Slack) IDE born March 1, 1719-20. No Norwood births or deaths recorded in Attleboro. There was no marriage recorded and the records show she married someone else later. 1740 He was listed as ‘of Providence‘ when on Oct. 8, 1740, he married Sarah ALDRICH, of Providence, at the First Congregational Church, by Rev. Josiah Cotton. Rev. Cotton had been minister there since 1728 (Vital Record of Rhode Island. 1636-1850 First Series. Births, Marriages and Deaths, by James N. Arnold, (1892) vol. 1 p.91) Pool says he married, circa 1740, Sarah Goodrich, daughter of Daniel Goodridge and Mary Ordway (EP__). However at another place he says “Aldrich or Goodrich”. Since they were married over 100 years before Pool was writing and there was no marriage in the local records, Pool may have picked Goodrich as the name sounds similar and there was a Goodrich family in Gloucester. There is currently no other record of Sarah or what happened to her after she signed a deed on 25 August 1761. Pool says they had 6 sons (EP4) -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: [email protected] > Today's Topics: > > 1. I would appreciate if you would send on the documentation of that find as we did not know of it.? We had thought it was Sarah Goodrich.? Yes, this is an important > discovery and does change the pedigree quite a bit. > Thanks for your help.? I am finding that everyone that I speak with about > descendants are so helpful and excited.?
