Hi cousins, I'm back on the trail again after a few years' doing other things. I've come to a bit of a dead end and would appreciate any advice on how to proceed. The 1881 England census shows my great Grandfather Henry NORWOOD as a 35 year old male born in Ayr, Scotland. (gives 1846 or thereabouts) Problem is that the scotlandspeople.gov.uk website shows no birth (or baptism) record for any Henry Norwood anywhere near the supposed date of his birth. These Norwoods of mine are definitely a shadowy lot - they keep dropping out of the census records and I have never found a death record for grandfather (another Henry!) I am waiting for g-grandfather Henry's marriage certificate in the hope it will give me some pointers. Kind regards -- Hugh Norwood Beware of Geeks bearing GIFs... Hugh, If you aren't certain your line came from Scotland, there are Henry Norwoods in the Leckhampton line you might want to check.
