Hello Rose, I'm sure that you can trace Douglas's family if you can provide a little more information. In order to use the records available to us for tracing families, we really would need grandparents' names as well. If Douglas doesn't know their names, then he might know his parents' particulars--where born, where married, where they died if they are deceased. This information will allow access to public records that my name his grandparents. As we get further back in time, we can use census records and a great variety of other sources of information. I will use Douglas's birth date and name to see if there is anything to find right away, but please try to get more information that will get us back before 1930, okay?
