    3. My husbands father is still alive just non existant basically we dated off and on from 1984 until 1998 when we got married and I met his dad once. His mom and dad were divorced when my husband was young and they are estranged because of it. My husband's Grandparents both died in New Orleans LA when I checked they said that the people had to be deceased for 60 years to get one or to get info off of it. This has been really hard for us due to our living in OH and most of the information is in the McComb, MS area. So if there is anyone out there that can help me with research it would be appreciated. Thanks Vicky Norwood --- "James E. Clark" <[email protected]> wrote: > I feel sure your husband can get a copy of the death certif. on his > father. I think you should check this out again. 3. I wish I could. I am completely lost on this family. I am fairly certain they are a part of the witness protection program. This is driving me nuts. It is also hard to do this long distance. We now live in OH so it gets really aggravating. Anyway if I run across anything I will let you know. From what I can tell there were either 3 or 4 main brothers that came over from england. 2. waymon, and norwood listers, ...i apologise for the manner in which i went about requesting information. i'm sure this will sound rude...especially to direct relations of the woman i was looking for...it never crossed my mind she would be living. ...i agree there are good reasons to be cautious with posted information. i am certainly open to input concerning the appropriate form for such a requst... ...my sincerest apologies. -xXx- mona

    2. Hi: I'm replying simply because I can symphatize with you. I've sent out so many searches and have gotten nowhere. I'm searching for information re my great-grandfather, Robert Norwood. the only things I know about him are that he supposedly was in the Civil War (several are listed, I don't know whether or not he was any of them) and that he married in 1864 in Louisiana. I can make no connection with the Norwood family genealogy, although I'm sure he fits in somewhere. Good luck, do you have any help for me?

    3. Hello Listers, Someone responded to my earlier post regarding use of birthdates. I post the year only of those whom I expect that are living. Once in awhile I let one slip by that someone has sent me in gedcom format. I also try to keep even the yob off one who is younger than 50 !? Why do I do it my way? Lots-a-crooks out there collecting information that can be misused in credit card and other fraud. YOB, POB, and mother's maiden name are used by banks and credit card businesses, etc. We genealogists just do not have a need for the birthdate of ANYONE born past 1900! We should pick up that policy of the Census Bureau - do not release info that is not over 70 years of age. BTW, I responded to that person DIRECTLY, rather than doing a "REPLY" to that message. When YOU "reply," you just add clutter to the Digest. Waymon Griffin

    3. I am trying to trace my husbands roots for him. The things we know for a fact are that his father was born in 1932 to James Norwood and Donie Callie CARTER in McComb MS. It has been rumored that both of their families may of immigrated from AL and/or GA. I know that James Norwood died in the early to mid 1950s just before my husband was born. Donie Callie CARTER died in the early 1960s my husband remembers her she died in New Orleans LA and was buried somewhere in MS but he is unsure of where. Any assistance is appreciated I have No dates of birth but I am going on the assumption that they both were born sometime in the early 1900s. I checked on getting a death certificate in New Orleans but they have to be dead for 60 years (I think that is what someone told me) before they will release any information. 3. You know I am not sure. My James R. BRYAN married Martha Norwood in Dekalb Co., AL. I had to pull the book out to check on Samuel. I have down that her father was Samuel. Her mother was Pernicia Fatima Home. She had a sister, Sara, that married James R. BRYAN's son, Joel P. BRYAN. Martha is supposed to have been born in about 1837 in GA according to the 1870 census for Jackson Co., GA, but they were married in Dekalb Co. according to marriage record filed in Dekalb Co., GA. This is not a direct line, but there were supposed to be two children that would still be my line. Does this sound familiar? Am trying to find out where they went. I have nothing on them after the 1870 census. Thanks. Now that there is some new activity on the list, I thought I would try again Here is my Norwood connection. My gggrandmother was Winney NORWOOD, born 1815 in GA. She married first, Joseph CROOK in 1832, in Carroll County GA, then John PONDER in 1845. They are found in the 1850 and 1860 census of Gordon County GA. In the 1860 census, there was living in the same house, Elizabeth NORWOOD, 68 yrs, who I believe was Winney's mother. I also believe that Samuel NORWOOD, found in Carroll County GA in 1830 and 1840 census, is her father. I would certainly like to find some connection out there in cyberspace. If you think you might be a cousin, PLEASE, write me. Diane Bingham

    3. Can't help you on Norwood but...BINGHAM? What do you know about your BINGHAM line? I am working on a James S. BINGHAM. I find him first in Williamson Co., Texas in 1849. 1850 census says he was born in 1825 in Missouri?! But, haven't found him anywhere any earlier. Any ideas? 2. Fellow Norwood Researchers: Anyone else researching this family? ELIZABETH NORWOOD, b GA- 1794, appears in the 1850 Census for Independence Co Arkansas, age 56, living with her son, WILLIAM age 23, also b GA and her son-in-law and daughter: Johnson and HARRIET Norwood Wright. Another daughter appears to be SUSAN, b 1831 in GA, m David M. Tucker in Independence Co Ark. William may have married Lucinda Autrey in Conway Co Ark. in 1883. An article in the Independence County Chronicle states that Elizabeth was a widow and had moved to Arkansas with the Wright family from Tennessee. The Wrights were from Dyer County TN, but I have found no evidence of the Norwood family there. THANKS, Laine Sutherland [email protected]

    3. Hi, Regarding care in publication of information on living people, I agree. I am careful with anything as far back as the grandparents of a living person. Many banks, etc. use mother's maiden name as a password. Making that information readily available on a web page or newsletter seems to me to be asking for trouble. Granted, most people using such pages have no intention of misusing such information. But, it only takes one... 2. Hi: I'm curious as to why you do not post the entire birthdate in your genealogy search. Surely, you at least post the birth year. I'm searching for Robert Norwood, supposedly in Civil War, married in 1864, from Louisiana. Ring any bells? Thanks, Joyce Norwood Chandler
