    1. CT>VT Zeriah b 1740 parents?
    2. Jan J.
    3. Hi, Do you know the answers to these questions: 1) Who are the parents of Zeriah NORWOOD and her husband, James DALY (DAILY)? 2) What town was their son, David DALY (DAILY) Sr., born in Windham, CT, 4 Dec. 1767? James DALY (DAILY) was born abt 1740 and died after 1771 and was of Skenesbough, VT (now Whitehall, NY). His wife, Zeriah NORWOOD was born 26 Feb. 1740 in Canterbury, Windham, CT. Their son, David Daly, Sr., was born 4 Dec. 1767, died 18 March 1842 and married Martha CALL on 29 Apr 1791 in Pittsfield, Rutland Co., VT. They had 9 children and my ancestor, Elizabeth DALY (DAILY), was born 20 March 1797 in Pittsfield, Rutland Co., VT, married Jonathan POWERS 10 Feb. 1820 and died 5 Sept. 1834. James with household of 3 was listed in 1771 census in Skenesbough, VT. He is my 5th great grandfather. Thanks for your help, Jan Jordan in VT

    1. Web Site Update: NORWOOD Connections
    2. icefox
    3. Hi! I'm still out here for those of you who might have been wondering! Bet by now, some of you probably thought I'd fallen off the face of the earth or some such thing. Yes, I know that it's been exactly a year to the day since I last made an update to my web site. Health problems again. But I'm back now and the wait is finally over! The web site dedicated to the research of the Norwood family in Nebraska, the Mid-Atlantic Colonies/States and the Atlantic/Caribbean Islands has been updated! It's also been completely revamped so I hope you all like the new look. And last but not least, there's even a few additions! Updates: NEBRASKA Added photo to Richard Norwood Added photo to Lois Norwood Added photo to Andrew Norwood Added photo to Wilson Norwood Added photo to Francis Norwood Added photo to George Norwood NEW JERSEY Added info on Andrew Norwood Added info on Norwoods from Ireland Added info on Cornelius Norwood NEW YORK Updated gen report on Andrew S. Norwood Added photos to gen report on Andrew S. Norwood Now hopefully all the pages and links are working properly but you know how it can be when a whole a lot of changes get made at one time. If you find something that's wrong or isn't working, please drop me an email. On the other hand, you can drop me an email even if you don't find something out of whack! I like to hear the good stuff too! And in case you're into public praise (there wouldn't be any complaints, right?), or would like to touch base with some of the other Norwood researchers, there is now a guestbook on the web site for you to use. Enjoy! :) TAFN! Irene ([email protected]) http://www.norwoodconnections.com P.S. A word about browser differences. I tested everything with Netscape 7.0 and found everything to work out okay. With Netscape 4.7 and Internet Explorer 5.5 I found there to be many differences, but mostly subtle ones. Except for one very notable instance. The photo on the contents page does not show up in Netscape 4.7 for some reason. I tried everything I could think of but no luck. Now I understand why it is that I sometimes get completely blank pages when I go to some websites while using that browser. Go figure.

    3. Dear Vonda, Let me say first off, I do not believe we have any connection with our NORWOODS, but....it doesn't hurt to try! My husbands Norwoods were all in South Carolina as far back as I can go, which isn't far! His Grdfather Pinckney Alexander Norwood, born Nov.3,1861. Co-incidence the same name???? 1st wife Mary..., 2nd Rosamond Hargroves, 3rd was Loker Mae Shirley here in Fla. They wer then parents of Alice Mae Norwood, Mother of my husband George A. Brown. So, did your family ever live, leave So. Carolina???? Lots of luck to you. Good point. There's a "Dayton, Ohio" note in my .sig, but I moved to Ohio from South Carolina about six years ago. 1. Re: Thomas Lenoir Norwood NC/TN Civil War
    2. Michael- According to Thomas Felix Hickerson's "Happy Valley," a recount of Lenoir/Gwyn and allied families of the Yadkin Valley area of North Carolina, Capt. Thomas Lenoir Norwood, went on to become a teacher at Bingham School and eventually, in 1888, was Professor and Dean of University of Tennesseee at Knoxville. According to Hickerson "Big Tom Norwood" did all the things you mentioned regarding the Civil War, but I found no specific reference to him being in Company A or any other company. He married 1st: Carrie Bahnson (d.1875) He married 2nd: Maggie Bright (d.1881) There is no mention of children. I am a MA-ME Norwood, but am a NC Lenoir. -Joe In a message dated 3/1/02 12:40:30 PM, [email protected] writes: << Greetings folks! I am looking for information on Thomas Lenoir Norwood. During the Civil War, he wrote a series of letters to his parents and to his uncle, Walter W. Lenoir (Caldwell County, NC), concerning his military service. These letters are housed in the Southern Historical Collection, UNC-Chapel Hill. Norwood enlisted in Company A, 37th North Carolina Troops, in July 1862, at the age of seventeen (born c.1845). Almost all of the men from Company A were from Ashe County, North Carolina. Norwood rose to the rank of first lieutenant of Company A, was wounded and captured during the battle of Gettysburg, but escaped his captors and made his way back to the southern lines. Norwood, who was in command of company A at the end of the war, surrendered with the rest of the regiment at Appomattox Court House, VA, on April 9, 1865. What happened to Norwood after the war? I have found, on a online search, a Thomas Lenoir Norwood, born Jun. 17, 1845, to Joseph Caldwell Norwood and Laura Leah Carolina Lenoir. This Thomas Lenoir died on Jul. 28, 1888, and is buried at the Lenoir Cemetery, Lenoir City, Loudon County, Tennessee. Is this the Thomas Lenoir Norwood who served in Company A, 37th North Carolina Troops? Did he ever marry? Have children? Why did he move to Lenoir City? What was his occupation? I am working on an article based upon one of his letters, recounting his adventures at Gettysburg. I would like to finish this article by telling folks about the rest of his life. Some sank deep roots and others moved on, scattering our ancestors from coast to coast. Our purpose is to have fun, get acquainted, and swap genealogical information. The above is a list of the families which we know for sure had ties in early East Tennessee and the ones we have some information on. However, ALL surnames are welcome to attend whether your name is listed here or not! There will be a wealth of information to share. Plan on attending please! We Do Need A Head Count though as to NOT overbook the Park. (Numbers of persons coming that is what needed). We would love to have volunteers for some of the surnames on the list to act as co-hosts/co-hostesses to greet and help people with their surname, to be made to feel welcome and to help them meet researchers working on the same surnames. We want everyone to have fun, feel welcomed, and enjoy themselves. **That's What Tennessee Stands For: THE VOLUNTEER STATE ** "Where pride walks and the flag flies!"** We know that we have some college instructors attending who perhaps can be persuaded to speak about history/genealogy. We also have experts and accredited genealogist who have been researching for 30 plus years. They are ready to share their information with us. ---------------------- Attendance is FREE . . . but we will have a "donation" jar to offset the cost for using the campground, tableware, entertainment, and clean up. ---------------------- PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING AND BRING: 1. First and foremost yourselves... 2. ALL BOOKS, BIBLES, PICTURES, FAMILY SHEETS, AND INFORMATION YOU HAVE AVAILABLE... 3. A covered dish to share. (For those who are traveling some distance and for whom this is not a feasible option, you may either bring a sack lunch or a non- perishable or deli item that can be picked up at last minute locally. 4. Drinks, ice chest 5. A chair or blanket to sit on...If you are serving as a host or hostess, you will also need a small table (card table size or larger) to display your family information on. -------------------------- Last year was our first attempt to pull all these early settlers' descendants together. As far as we knew, it had never been attempted before. It was a resounding success for a first attempt, and it was agreed that it should become an annual event. This area is so very rich in history, both as an Indian frontier and as an isolated jewel of Union sympathy during the Civil War. It also served as a departure point for westward movement and new settlement. Our ancestors left us a rich heritage, which we are striving to preserve and pass on to our children and grandchildren. This rich tapestry of ideals and values is what made us a great nation and what made each of us what we are today. And it began with our earliest immigrant ancestors who came here to start a new life and a new country. COME and SHARE that heritage with us on July 13-14. We are looking forward to making many new friends!! Sincerely, Terri Brown Jurca: <[email protected]>, 5509 Paula Rd., Knoxville, Tn 37912 Carl Coffman: <[email protected]> 1448 S.
